A Tip: Use Original Pictures

My websites are primarily about experiences and information. When I use pictures, they are to illustrate a point, break up the text, provide a product image or create a catchy link. As an affilitate, I can use images of products. I am leary about pulling images off the internet, even when they are designated as royalty free. As much as possible, I use my own, orginal images.

If you are like me, you have taken thousands of pictures over the years. Although not all easily identifiable, I can usually find something that fits into an article that I am writing. Often, I will take a new picture for a specific article. I have no doubt that my readers could tell the difference between a professional shot and mine if they were side by side in an article. But they aren't. I doubt anyone scrutinizes my pictures very much.

There are several good reasons for using original pictures. Of course, with original pictures, there is never a need to worry about royalties or copyright. I find that my pictures fit best into my articles because the text and the images are both mine. There is a real sense of pride when someone comments on how well a picture compliments an article. Even with searching through untagged pictures, inserting originals in an article saves a great deal of time. I find that selecting or creating the right, original image takes almost as much imagination as writing the article. I enjoy that.

My suggestion is that you begin to tag the images already on your various devices so they are easily accessible. Use them in your articles or create new images. The important word is "your". Your articles need your images. I hope this helps you keep on fishin'.

Hi,

Can I see your website please in order to learn from it?

Very nice article. Very informative.

If you haven't done it yet. You should send a private message to Drjec asking for his website. Check his profile too.

We are not to have websites in this forum.

If you click on my picture, you will be able to see other blog posts and the urls to my websites. Thanks for reading the article.

That makes so much sense and as you indicated usually takes less time than serching for that right picture - thanks Harry

It's a huge help, Jim, and I agree with you 100%. That's probably what I'm going to be doing as well!

Jeff

I find it makes putting together an article more fun.

Especially since they're your own images, Jim!

Jeff

Hello and thanks for the post.
I agree with you and now only use my own images as I try to add the personal touch with these photographs.
Being here in Australia and by the coast, we have a great abundance of places, nature, and wildlife to take great photos.
All the best to you.
Darren :)

I think what your find interesting and beautiful adds a great deal to any article. Thanks for reading my article.
