I have been enjoying WA for a number of years now. Having created a few sites, I find that I am earning a modest income with a great deal of personal satisfaction. About a year ago, I went back to work after a few months of retirement. This put a a damper on my participation in the WA community, but I wanted to write a brief article about the imaginative use of WA.

Moving to "almost retired", I have take a position as a parish priest at a small church in California. Without a great deal of expertise or budget, the parish has had difficulty maintaining a website. I have found that WA provides training that can enable the average person to create and maintain a website. It can also provide an inexpensive way for an organization to fund raise, inform membership and the public and advertise services and activities. Without much effort, each group can maintain an updated page about membership and activities complete with pictures.

WA offers a blogging format. Using the posts, we have created a weekly published information page that is widely read across our diocese. Pages have been created to allow people to follow worship on their phones or tablets by accessing the website.

I suggest that you think beyond your personal use of the WA format to look at ways that organizations, in your town, can take advantage of the easy to follow trainings and user friendly Word Press progam as well as the other WA tools. Once you have gained some expertise with WA, presentations to groups can encourage them to review the program, create a "starter website" and see the potential of the WA format for their organization. You will earn a $1 as each group registers. Your WA affiliation will earn commissions as groups register for the WA program. Who knows? You may earn a trip to Vegas.
