Have you every tried to herd cats?
I don't know if you have ever heard the expression that doing something is like trying to herd cats. It means that it's basically impossible.
This is the way I feel every time I read an article about SEO. It usually takes me to another article then to another one until I've lost the original one. Then I search until I find the one I started with and before I know it I'm back trying to herd those darned cats again.
I get a lot of advice on how to quit this and become disciplaned, Most of the suggestions make sense but trying to implement them when I've had 84 years of not being able to make myself change is near impossible. Again it's like trying to herd those darned cats.
Maybe it will happen in my next life, but in the meantime I will try and change a little at a time and maybe by the time I hit 100 I'll be headed in the right direction.
I imagine this article will change the way you look at cats, but if it helps you to quit or not start herding them then my message is a success.

Hey Don, I had never heard the expression, but I get the picture (LOL). As a blind man on the web, my recommendation is the KISS method: Keeping things simple you can avoid getting overwhelmed and master the basics; as long as you keep going, you'll learn and grow. Happy New Year!
I have not heard of the term, herd cats. The first thing that came up to my mind was the image and it seems impossible to do that.
Now that you describe it, I know the meaning.
The thing with tech, like SEO is you have 2 groups of people trying to get your attention at the same time.
The first group like WA, focuses on fundamentals and step by step. That is good. Everyone can learn. The experts hate WA because they feel too basic.
The second group promotes sophisticated methods and complexity. Create the confusion, then sell the solution. If things are simple and straight forward, can’t sell you a four figure solution.
The reality is the 80/20 rule, even when the second works, you need to get the first done right.
And the reality is fundamentals are good enough in many cases.
Good Morning Don,
You are not the only one I can assure you. I often get lost in this internet jungle.
I know what you mean with herding cats. Once upon a time, I had 20 so I know what you are talking about. They do what they want and you give them love and food like that all will be well under their conditions.
Perhaps we should try with dogs.......

Hi Don, I know what you mean about herding cats. I just figure I'll take one step at a time. As long as I'm doing something, I'll make it in the end. And besides, it gives me something to get up for each day. That's got to count for something. Right?

I have never heard of the expression, but now I have to try and herd my two furry friends (aka kids). I can just see my husband's face as he is wondering what I am doing....I am one that says "if something is said to be impossible, I have to try it"...
