Introduction

Mindset...

I heard a lot about that back when I first began my digital career. I didn't pay much attention because, like everyone else in this space, I was more focused on strategy, traffic, leads, conversions, you know, the important stuff.

I didn't have time for Jedi Mind Tricks! :)

Boy was I wrong.

The longer I've stuck around the more I realize that were it not for having the proper frame of mind, I don't think I would have made it past the first three months.

Now I would say that success is about 80% mindset and 20% strategy, because when the rubber meets the road, your negative mindset will derail you faster than a failed Facebook campaign.

The Big (Mindset) Killers of Your Business

Here are the biggest killers of your business:

1. Doubt (about your ability, expertise or message)
2. A critical or complaining spirit
3. Negativity
4. Fear (of failure, of what others think, of trying new things)
5. Discouragement

Doubt is probably our biggest culprit because many of us grew up without a whole lot of encouragement. Now we're being asked to put our content out there for the masses (and the trolls), and frankly, that is frightening!

Right behind that is a fear of failure. We've tried online marketing and went nowhere. It just doesn't work for me. We are also afraid of what others might think if we decide to go down this crazy Internet road.

The result is the we jump in half-way (and half-hearted).

Finally, discouragement (because of a bad comment, poor traffic, or no sales) is a serious enemy of your success. Many entrepreneurs give up at the first sign of difficulty.

Be prepared

As an entrepreneur, you should prepare for these factors and decide right now that you will not let them get in the way of fulfilling your goals and mission.

What are some steps you can take?

1. Always keep your BIG REASON at the forefront of your mind (see this post)
2. Feed your mind and soul - YouTube is a great source of motivational videos that will keep you focused and heading in a positive direction
3. Stay positive - You do not have control over most things. But you do have control in how you react to them
4. Remove negative people and influences from your life - See my suggestion below

You must learn to deal with adversity, criticism and setbacks

I set this biz killer apart because it's a big one.

No matter how positive you are and how many good intentions you have, you will experience setbacks. Some campaigns won't work. People will criticize you or your product / service.

That's life!

Don't let these things affect you. You’re on a mission. Don’t sweat the small stuff. And aside from something very drastic (like a death or tragedy), most everything in life and business is the small stuff.

If someone close to you is the source of stress and criticism this is my suggested solution.

Sit the person down and have a heart-to-heart conversation with them.

Tell them how much their opinion matters to you. It is for this reason that you need them to withhold their judgment and criticism. Yes, this might seem like a crazy idea, yes there are risks. But you have to do this for yourself. Ask them for their love and support during this process.

9 times out of 10 if you do this with the right emotion, the person will respond positively. But, if they don't, you will need to tune out that criticism and just press on (back to the mindset thing).

Keep Going, No Matter What

If creating an online business were easy, everyone would jump aboard.

But here at WA you've got a jump start. The road has already been paved for you. All you have to do is literally follow the training, step-by-step, and good things will happen.

So don't let any of the biz killers set you off course.
