My $150 Night - Might Be the Beginning of Something Special

Introduction

I crossed a mini-milestone the other night.

I sold six classes on Teachable for a total of $145.

That is small wages in today's Internet landscape, but it might represent something much bigger.

The Path to Now

After wandering around in the digital marketing desert for a while, I finally got serious in 2019, and I focused on creating a brand as well as more content for that brand. It's in a religious niche market, which is great.

I live and work in the market so I know it well and I know how to reach and talk to that audience.

Here's a graph I highlighted in another post.

It shows the growth in visitors to my blog when I got serious about content creation.

Then Came an Offer

Once I had an audience, I created an e-course in Teachable. To be completely transparent, I had previously tried selling a course on Udemy. But they only gave you $3.00 for every sale over there. So I ported everything to the Teachable platform so I could have more control.

I can charge a better rate and keep most of the profits.

My next strategy was to boost a post on Facebook, build a small audience, and then run a Facebook Live webinar to that same audience via Zoom. At the end of each presentation, I would drive folks back to my site to purchase the course.

That is what I did, getting on Zoom and teaching folks from my knowledge.

At the very end of the series, I gave people a little discount to purchase. Many took advantage of it. In total, over the whole campaign which lasted several weeks, 40% of my Zoom audience purchased my course.

We earned $350 overall and $150 on the last night.

We are getting ready to repeat the Zoom series again, and I think our audience is going to be twice the size.

The WA principles work, if you work them. Interest, website, visitors, offers.

It does require patience, and learning your craft, but it is more sustainable. It's also alot more fun because I can share what I am passionate about with other like-minded people.

It's a win-win.

Here's to your success.

I am happy for you. Thank you for sharing great idea.

Wonderful! Thanks for sharing!

Awesome! Well done Gustavo!

Thanks so much for sharing this, Gustavo. It's good to know Teachable is much better than Udemy regarding the money you get for your courses.
Lots of success with your efforts!

Udemy brings you an audience, but they've trained their peeps to want courses for $9. Then you only get $3.

Nope. The courses are worth whatever someone is willing to pay given the value they think they will receive.

I charge $49 for one of my courses. And people buy it because of its value. It's probably worth closer to $100, but I want it to be accessible to my market.

Great Job Sir,

I can relate to your comment about the cost of the course.

I started charging cheaply before it came to my mind how much value my customers were getting out of my course.

Then i doubled the price and they still continued to pay.
Some even told me my type of course was going for twice the current amount.

Takeaway: We should never be afraid to set a high price on our own products as long as they bring high value to our audience.

Have a great Day.

Well done, Gustavo!

Jeff
