More Advice on Choosing a Domain Name

So, just a quick blog to let you know about a useful free tool. You may have read my previous post on the subject of choosing a domain name, but this takes a step further, as regards future use of social media.

Having chosen your perfect domain name, don't forget that at some point, you may wish to have a social media account associated with it. Imagine your disappointment as you begin to get established with your website, and then discover there is already a Facebook, Pinterest or Twitter account with the same name!
Let's take a look at https://namechk.com/
At the top of the homepage is a tool to check if your chosen domain name is available.
Lower down, it also reveals if that name is available on the most popular social media accounts and a whole host of other platforms you may not even have thought of using!
Let's see it in action. I have randomly chosen "butterflycat" as my chosen name. As you can see, it is not available in the popular extensions, .com, .org or .net
Let's check out the social media results. As you can see, it has already been taken on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. Only the green options are available. So, overall, not a good choice of domain name.
Have fun playing around with this tool. You can even check the domains you are currently using and perhaps see where else you could use your brand!
Reminds me of a trip I took to Hawaii. I was boarding a shuttle flight from Honolulu to the Big Island. There was a bit of a ruckus. A woman kept claiming that I had taken her seat. I double checked my boarding pass. I was definitely in the right seat.
It turned out that both of us had been assigned the same seat. Fortunately, there was an empty seat on the airplane and everybody was happy.
Can I make a suggestion for an interview subject? Her name is Simone (username newme202). She is a nurse and a teacher and a whole bunch of other stuff as well. She is an amazing woman. She used to be very active on WA, constantly churning out well thought out blogs. She has decided to spend more time on her online business, so you don't see her on WA as much as you used to.
She might be up for an interview. Just tell her Terry sent you over.
