Hi - apologies to anybody who is already aware of this useful tool, but it is new to me, so I thought I would give it a mention. I believe you can never have too much information as far as your website is concerned.

Get a free SEO site checkup.

Varvy is an extremely cool SEO audit tool.

Most SEO analysis tools only give you surface level information.

But with Varvy, you get access to data which most other free tools don’t show you, including mobile-friendliness, missing alt text, HTTPS setup, robots.txt analysis and more.

Varvy doesn’t just hand you a list of SEO problems.

It also gives you specific recommendations that you can implement to fix them, straight from Google’s Webmaster Guidelines.

So, some of the specific things it checks for are as follows, and I will give you the results from one of my sites as an example:

Googlebot Access - my resources were not blocked by robots.txt

Mobile Devices - my site seems to display well on mobile devices

Security - my site is secured with HTTPS

Accessibility - accessibility issues found. Not screen reader friendly. As I failed this section, it goes on to explain the problem. Apparently 3 images do not have alt text, and it helpfully showed me which ones. It also provided Google's reason why this is important. Guideline states: 'Ensure that your alt attributes are descriptive, specific, and accurate.'

Page Speed - my site load speed is average, but can be made better. Although I passed the test, it stated I have browser caching issues. It gave me a link to solutions, but it was somewhat complicated, so I need to look into this

Robots.txt Guideline - my robots.txt file found

If Modified Since - my site does not appear to support if modified since. This relates to a 304 status code, which I need to investigate further, as it is not something I am familiar with. Suggestions welcome!

Amount of Links - amount of links not excessive

Findable Links - well formed static links found

HTTP Headers - my page headers are fine when accessed as Googlebot

So, why not give it a try? (Not an affiliate link)

Hi Diane. Should I try this if I only have three posts so far? I just started building my website.

Hi - you can, but some of the results may be a little technical for a new starter and may cover something you haven't reached in training yet. Feel free to ask if you see anything that looks particularly worrying.

Thank you for the information. Will go and try it know.
