Wealthy Affiliate warriors, let's talk about something we all struggle with: building a routine that doesn't involve hitting snooze 17 times and then panicking at 3 PM. Here's a humorous and relatable take on "The Power of Daily Habits: Building a Sustainable Online Business Routine":

"Daily Habits: Or, How to Avoid Living in Your Pajamas Forever (Maybe)"

"Okay, friends, let’s be honest. We signed up for this whole 'work from home, be your own boss' thing thinking it would be all sunshine and rainbows, right? Wake up whenever, work in your PJs, take midday naps. Turns out, 'freedom' also means 'zero structure' if you don’t put in the effort. And let’s face it, most days, my 'routine' looks like a crime scene of coffee cups and half-written blog posts.

But here’s the thing: those people who actually make money online? They have routines. Shocking, I know. It's like they've figured out how to adult! So, let’s talk about building some daily habits that won’t make us want to throw our laptops out the window.

First, let's address the elephant in the room: the snooze button. It’s a liar. A sweet, tempting liar, but a liar nonetheless. Set an alarm, and when it goes off, just… get up. I know, I know, it sounds like torture. But trust me, your future self (the one who's not scrambling to write a blog post at midnight) will thank you.

  • "Habits are the compound interest of self-improvement." - James Clear
  • "If you believe you can change - if you make it a habit - the change becomes real." - Charles Duhigg
  • "Small habits, when repeated consistently, lead to remarkable results." - James Clear

Next, let’s talk about 'work hours.' I put that in quotes because, let's be real, we’re all over the place. But try to set some boundaries. Even if it’s just a few hours in the morning where you actually focus. No scrolling through cat videos (okay, maybe just one).

And speaking of focus, let's talk about distraction. We all know the drill: 'I'll just check my email real quick…' Three hours later, you're deep in a YouTube rabbit hole about squirrels wearing tiny hats. It’s a slippery slope, folks. Try using tools like website blockers or even just putting your phone in another room. (Gasp!)

Here’s the thing, building a routine isn’t about being perfect. It’s about finding what works for you. Maybe it’s writing for an hour in the morning, then taking a walk. Maybe it’s batching your social media posts on Mondays. Whatever it is, find something you can stick to.

And remember, celebrate the small wins. You actually wrote 500 words today? Treat yourself to a cookie! You managed to resist the siren call of Facebook for an hour? You’re basically a superhero!

We're all in this together, friends. Let’s ditch the pajama-clad chaos and build some routines that actually lead to success. And if all else fails, at least we’ll have slightly cleaner desks. Maybe.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to try to find my keyboard under this mountain of coffee cups."

I started creating new habits even before launching my first site.

-I removed all of the time-wasting games from my phone. (Except for WWF)

-I primarily use social media for research purposes, but I must admit(clearing my throat), I’ve been doing better lately. Hahaha

-Wake up early to get my online work rolling before heading off to my actual job.

Now, it’s just ‘what I do’. Before, I was known for just being the guitar player, now my friends know me as a blogger too.

WWF? Really??!!?? lol

What an inspiration, Steve!

It’s one of the oldest games I still play. I have groupies. Lol

Dedication+persistence+work ethic+SEO knowledge+consistency+ ? = success.

Now if I can only find the missing piece of the puzzle. 🤔

I've discovered that sometimes that missing link is finding the right angle or a unique perspective. For instance, for my senior fitness site, I'm adding in preventing falls with proper diet (protein!) and balance and strength training. Many other sites teach the exercises but don't talk about the other correlated factors.

That’s a great idea Diane. I started to write more posts about being fit over 50 but it never took off.

Time to share, lol.

I think it's a matter of reaching the right audience, Steve. There are actually 2 segments I've found. The people already over 50, of course. But also the family members who have older people they care for or are close to. I hope that helps!

I was going for the angle of people already there like me. I’m 55

I understand. I'm a little over that, too. But I was also a caregiver for my Dad and helped with my Mom and my sister. So I have experience both ways.

Keep going- you'll find your footing!

I have an over 50 post that has got a little bit of traffic, but it is about diabetic compression stockings and DVT which is deep vein thrombosis.

I did take care of my dad for 4 years following my mom’s passing.

Then you also know the differences. Stay well and be blessed, my friend.
