Positive Thinking Wins for 2021

I've always been a positive thinking person.

Actually, I consider myself a "realistic-optimist." I try to stay grounded while maintaining a positive outlook. Truly, I have no time for pessimism.

Recently, I noticed that I've been skirting around the pessimist when I'm searching for new content ideas. I'm sure I've always done it. But I've noticed it more now that I am promoting one of my sites more than I had before.

It's easy to think positive thoughts about baking and houseplants. But one of my sites is about caring for elderly parents in your home.

Yes, it's an important topic and one that calls for attention. I learned first-hand while caring for my beloved Dad.

Maybe my case was different.

I had a very supportive family, a Dad who appreciated almost everything I did, and even a daughter (shout out here to Rebekah!) who loved her Grandpa so much that he inspired her career choice.

You see, so many forums and groups are saturated with negatives. And let's face it, those negatives might be justified in many cases. Probably not all, though.

Still, I think that was part of the reason I took a vacation from that site after my Dad passed. My experience was much different.

Oh, it was difficult at times. I never got enough sleep. And seeing his condition deteriorate without any way I could make it better was hard.

But my Dad was a positive thinker, too. He knew the path he was on and I know it saddened him. But he didn't let it defeat him. In fact, he was always shopping for his next car to fix up!

While searching for topics, I have found some very good ones, useful advice, and products to help families.

And I do try to see it from the caregiver's perspective, as well as for the elderly. But those negatives...they just add up.

I'm trying a new approach.

I'm seeking products first. Yes, I'm looking for products, some I used, others that I would have, given different circumstances, and building my posts around them.

Yes, I still visit the forums and groups. But I tread lightly. I want to help people, entire families, not look for pain and misery in life.

And I do understand that many of the misery comments might lead to some good post content. I've found a few and am using them. But I cannot dwell on the total negativity. It saps all the strength from me.

2021 brings a new year with incredible potential for all of us. I hope you find your way to gather content ideas that work for you!

Hi Diane ... I hope you see the positive side of this comment ;-)

To me, 'positive thinking' is the tip of the iceberg.

The iceberg might be called 'being positive'.

As opposed to just 'thinking positive (which is important), it strikes me that what is more important, is being positive in everything we do ...
Nothing happens without first thinking ... but many thoughts are not followed through, they fall by the wayside.

So I think that the concept of 'positive thinking' certainly has its place but is a very small part of the spectrum of 'being positive'.

Does that make sense?
:-)

Great post mom, I love how Grandpa is the one who made me want to become a CNA and I can't wait to start school for that job.

I just looked at your SR parents site and I really like how it's coming along so far. Keep up the Wonderful work mom!

Love, Rebekah. 💕

Thank you, my dear! You have certainly helped keep me focused on that site, too!

So sorry ylto hear of your Father passing. He sounded inspirational. I think its so important to think positively & to have input that is positive. I specifically came back to WA after having looked at the news on Twitter (its so negative, it gets me down) & I was pleased to find your blog. Its also so important to think laterally as you are with content.

Have a wonderful day.

Trevor

Thank you for your kind comments, Trevor. I agree, Twitter and other social media can get quite negative. I tend to read quickly, then leave.

Have a wonderful day and a very happy & successful 2021!
