An Unproductive Day

Some days just don't come together the way I hope.

Today was one of those days.

Yesterday, one of our daughters was married to her best friend in a beautiful ceremony. We feel quite blessed that they finally found a way to complete their marriage vows, despite the pandemic. He is from another country, so the wait has been long.

We had a wonderful time, although we did arrive home quite late. My furkids were so happy to see me! It's been many months since they were all alone for so many hours. They were fine, of course, though I worried about them. Two are older blind dogs, a third is deaf and half-blind. The others, young and healthy, are just not used to being alone for so long. So I was happy to return home to a furry welcome!

The fur-kid welcome home lasted quite a long time. They needed to know that they could not have lasted another minute without my return!

But they settled in nicely after a good long run and seemed ready for bed. I don't know how well they slept. They checked to make sure I was still there at least a couple of times.

This morning I awoke, thinking that a couple of cups of coffee would get me in gear for my Monday routine.

How wrong I was!

So I decided to indulge the furkids with some time relaxing on the couch and watching the morning news together. Certainly, I'd get more done after that.

Nope!

A nap might help?

All that did was confirm how tired I still was from yesterday.

I decided to restructure the week's plans. Time to review some of the training modules I've been wanting to view. I did get through a couple of short ones, so that's something. With notes taken, maybe I was ready to do some keyword and topic research.

The dogs decided they needed playtime, so...off we went to play in the sun.

Back in the house, it seemed I would never get anything done.

I like to check out what I've accomplished at the end of each day. It sets the tone for the next day. Today is certainly not going to be any kind of marathon showing. It's not even a sprint!

In fact, I'd liken it more to a morning stretch before the run. Then not actually running.

I'm actually feeling a little like the kid who played hooky and now needs to make up the missed work.

The one thing I made sure I did was to look for a quote that would make me feel like I wasn't alone in my need for this day off. It took a little searching to find just the right one, but this one seemed to fit the situation.

Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold. But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow -----Douglas Pagels

Now, with that settled, I just need to set my sites on that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!

How did your day go today?

Do you ever just feel the need to take a day off?

I'd appreciate your comments. If you have words of wisdom to share with me and others, please do so!

It is wonderful that, despite the pandemic, your daughter's wedding took place. We just came back from a couple of days camping so I am way behind in one sense. On the other hand, no one cares but me so I am going to give myself the benefit of the doubt and ignore the fact that I am behind.

hahaha...I like that attitude! It's ok to give ourselves a little leeway. It might even be necessary.

Congratulations on your daughter's wedding. Thank you for sharing it.

Yeah, I had to take a day or two off as well. I still don't feel very well but I keep going. At least, I could do the easy things if not the very brain storming ones. Sometimes, taking breaks could make us feel better.

Have a great week a head,

Meena

Thank you, Meena. I hope you feel better and back to brain-storming once again!

You're most welcome!

Thank you for the good wish, Diane!

How did your day go today?
Tiring day, after leaving the house at 4.30am, passing through the forest 40 km and doing something most hated waiting for 8 hours.
After finishing through the same road and arriving back at home at 4:30 am again safely (Thankful for His grace).
And do it 2 times in a row.
Yes...
What a day (which is why looking forward to the chance to succeed here at Wealthy Affiliate)

Do you ever just feel the need to take a day off?
I do really need a day off

I can see why you are focusing on your WA life. What type of work do you do?
I wish you great success in your WA life!

The weddings are usually fun and amazing, aint it. Hopefully you got to rest, I took a whole week off last week on this online journey, little did I know I needed it like there was no tomorrow. Unproductive in one sense but productive in another.

Looking at the bright side of things always 😇

Thank you, Chris! I need to know that others also find it necessary to take an occasional breather. I am a positive thinker but was afraid I might be losing my momentum. Thanks again!

That kind of day does come by ever so often but is good that we have more days so that we can change the last outcome. I take it a day at a time Diane and thank you for showing me I am not alone in these circumstances. Great post.

David

You are welcome David. And yes, one day at a time!
