Being In The Present
How often do we go through our lives not being fully present? I know I do it myself......so many things to do and so little time. We are always in a rush, and can never seem to get everything done. Our minds continually race.....in my RYT (yoga teacher training) we always called that 'The Monkey Mind'.
The human mind is filled with crazy monkeys, jumping around, screeching, chattering, carrying on endlessly. We all have monkey minds, with dozens of monkeys all clamoring for attention. Fear is an especially loud monkey, pointing out all the things we should be wary of and everything that could go wrong.
If you will spend some time each day in quiet meditation — simply calm your mind by focusing on your breathing or saying a simple mantra — you can, over time, tame those crazy monkeys. They will grow more peaceful if you lovingly bring them into submission with a consistent practice of meditation.
Remember to take some time for yourself today ~

I practice Mindfulness Meditation. And it is indeed amazing how being in the moment can really calm and clarify your mind.
Nice post. I love meditation. It is true that we need to slow down and live in the present.
I have been meditating for over 40 years and I can say with authority you are right......you get a much clearer perspective on life and handle it with more focus because those monkey's are eating bananas...they can't talk with their mouths full can they? Lol!
Meditation is something I haven't tried yet...might be a good idea to give it a go :) Thanks for the thought :) Love your new profile pic!
That is some sound advice, Diane.
Meditation, even a short one, every day, helps so much.....

Hi Diane,
You are so right, we all have those pesky little monkeys! They can make you so tired, by the end of the day, you wonder, what did I get done? The answer would be very little if anything. I do spend time in the morning and at night before bed quietly talking with God, it does help. I have a special room for quiet time. It's nice. By the way, I love the new picture, very pretty. Have a good evening.
