If i wanted to move my own domain name into another newer domain name. do i still have to pay annually for the old domain name registered?
in general it is up to you to renew a domain name early, unless you paid for 3 ore more years already.
if you do not want a domain name anymore, you simply Do Not Renew the payment at renew date and the domain is released back into 'available' pool
no problem.... just make sure that you don't have the domain set to AutoRenew and forget about it... it will take payment and autorenew (although you should receive an email about it long before renewal date)
if your domain was a good name you could even consider put it up for sale, flip it, etc... but if you don't want to get distracted with those things then it's ok to just let it go
Are you changing the domain name (like myweb1.com to say mynumber1website.com) ??
You can't do this. However with some domain registrars, if you change your mind within 5 days of purchase, they will delete the old name (myweb1.com) and give you a refund if you request this. The domain registrar I am with offers this.
djtrlm.com/domain
Then you can try to buy the new one, if it is still available. As a separate purchase.
Or are you changing the "Site Title" in WordPress for your domain ??
You can do this as often as you like within your WordPress Dashboard. If you keep doing it, you will confuse any visitors who return to your site on a regular basis.

If you don't need it, just cancel the domain, then you don't need to pay it anymore.
