Like a butterfly, freedom is right in front of you.

We have most likely all heard the powerful metaphor referring to a butterfly and the significance it bears for many people. It is a symbol of transformation or metamorphosis, relative to a change or a newfound experience. We are all in metamorphosis throughout our lives, beginning when we start to grow and experience life as a young soul. At birth, we begin our life's journey as we emerge from the cocoon of our mother's womb. Our flight is only just beginning when we take our first breath and spread our wings to take off. We greeted our first day with anticipation. We experienced a metamorphosis when we were born, thus entering this earth plane of existence. As we grow, we move on to experience a constant transformation, both physically and psychologically. Our physical bodies are developing while our bones and joints, muscles, cartilage, and other essential organs are forming into permanent structures we will depend on for the rest of our lives. When we begin to develop our own personalities, we are challenged to overcome trials and tribulations that mold us into who we are. We too are like a butterfly emerging from its cocoon. Each day our life changes as we spread our wings to fly, adding another memory into our photo album, or tucking it someplace into our mind or heart for later use.

Metamorphosis also occurs when the dark of night is transformed into a lovely morning each day we wake up to greet it. Then we spread our wings and fly through the day, facing possible outcomes and adjusting to changes as they arrive. A continuous transformation occurs as the hours pass by and day turns to night. When we learn and acquire knowledge we are transforming our minds and expanding our memory bank. And each day we live and breathe, our environment is magically transformed before our very eyes. The dawn arrays the sky in a blaze, chased by the sun as the day begins. Evening brings the setting of the sun, casting a beautiful painting across a pale blue sky as the day draws to an end. Stars appear in the sky and the moon rises high, shining its light over us all. We are in constant change. It is a matter of how we accept them.

How Do You Deal With Change?

Change is a necessary and ongoing condition. It can be positive or negative depending on the outcome. A cocoon (chrysalis) is a warm and safe place for a developing butterfly while it grows and matures. Beginning its early growth stage as a caterpillar, it transforms as it slowly reaches full maturation. Upon full maturity, the transformed caterpillar emerges as a butterfly where it is freed from its cocoon to fly away to a new life. It is amazing and enchanting how a butterfly can be transformed from a caterpillar into an elegant creature of flight. When the conditions are right, a butterfly emerges from its cocoon as a beautiful and graceful creature that is free to gather nectar from flowers and shrubs in neighboring gardens. They never fail to delight onlookers who manage to catch a peek. When all the right elements are brought together in harmony, a successful chrysalis is the pride of many Monarch butterfly lovers and the anticipated precious outcome of dedicated gardeners around the world.

It would be a loss to all of us if the growing butterfly failed to reach full maturation because the weather or soil conditions were poor and the chrysalis fell off, blew away, or rotted. Pesticides, improper sunlight, poor soil, and other unforeseen circumstances can prevent the chrysalis from surviving the seasonal maturation process. Without the proper conditions, it will fail to develop or will deteriorate away completely, and the cocoon is thus destroyed. The proper conditions are essential for a developing butterfly to make it through the season, taking into consideration poor weather and storms that may come along. A butterfly emerging from its cocoon is indeed a transformational message, a powerful one! Just as we humans, the need for the right climate and soil conditions, sunlight and rain are essential, or there will be no beautiful butterfly to grace the gardens of our family, friends, and neighbors. The climate must be right, the soil attended to, and the proper amount of rain and sunlight exposure to ensure a gorgeous butterfly graces the next season.

Are You Ready For A Transformation?

Is it the right time in your life when you are ready to spread your beautiful wings and fly away after surviving the warm nestling environment of your own private cocoon? Or are you still coming to full maturation during the latest growing season of change and decision-making? Are your wings prepared to fly after the latest metamorphosis, freeing you to leave your comfortable cocoon behind? Are you willing to spread your wings and give yourself the freedom to fly away to something new, even if it is a new attitude, recovering from a loss or illness, or something else?

I Hope So!

And you're not alone! We all face changes, and sometimes it is necessary to grow out of a comfortable warm cocoon, giving ourselves the freedom to fly to bigger and better fields and pastures. It could be a decision-making proposition, forgiving yourself, recovering from an illness, losing a loved one or dear friend, or facing a personal challenge. What do you feel needs some transformation in your own life? What troubles your heart or mind that you need the freedom to fly away from? Are you in need of a positive change or outcome?

If so, I wish you well on your flight should you decide to take it. Sometimes change can be intimidating or challenging, but I know you'll do well. You have strong wings, the right attitude, and the willingness to leave the cocoon. Bon Voyage friend, and have a good flight!

Hi Denise
A nice metaphor!

I apologise, this comment turned into a feature length!

The only certainty in life is that things change, yet humans find change difficult to handle.

Brain science tells us why. Here is a high level view.

First, to accept an external change, we have to accept it internally.

The majority of our brain provides essential support of which we are not usually conscious. This includes areas of our brain that house our so-called subconscious mind.

A primary built-in instinct is to protect the status quo. I.E. a primary goal of the brain is self-preservation for survival. The majority of the brain does everything it can to rebel boarders. As a result it is slow to accept change.

The subconscious mind doesn’t think, as such, it doesn’t make decisions, it just does what it does by instinct and reaction. It fulfils its functions amazingly well. Some of its instincts and reactions (controlling vital organs, triggering movements, senses and emotions etc) are lightning fast.

Our subconscious mind is also home to our mindset which is the total of our values and beliefs. In this context, a value is a type of belief.

Everything we consciously choose to do, and habits of any kind are controlled through our “filter” of beliefs which effectively control our actions and reactions.

If we change a belief we change our actions and reactions.

It is possible to change our beliefs of course, although the self-preservation instincts of our brain takes some convincing to accept reprogramming.

Stating the obvious now; this is why changing our mindset, for example, is a challenge.

Now moving on to the conscious, creative, thinking part of our mind.

Our conscious mind allows us to freely think whatever we want and to make our own decisions. It handles creativity and logic with distinction.

But everything we think and decide runs through the gamut of our subconscious mindset.

If our (mostly unknown) subconscious beliefs support our conscious communication we get the result we ask for, whether it’s useful or not.

On the other hand, if there is an incongruence between our conscious thoughts and subconscious mindset (which often become voices in our head) we can either end up doing something not consciously intended, or we use conscious willpower to achieve what we want.

Conscious willpower can be very useful. The way I think of it, is that we can test out a conscious thought without making a permanent change to our mindset.

The thing is that willpower gets turned off whenever our conscious mind sleeps. For it to have a permanent change effect it has to be summoned up day after day, often many days, for the mindset to accept the change as part of its status quo.

The mistake most people make is to think that their willpower has made a permanent change after too few uses.

It is possible to trigger fast internal changes. Such changes are usually the result of either cognitive or physical trauma, or through hypnosis in one of its many forms.

I hope this comment is useful to someone!

It's awesome Richard! Wow... I appreciate your response. I would never have dreamed the post would generate such thought. I do agree with you on your points. I tend to thank my subconscious a lot; it seems to be the most "in tune" with me; it seems to know me better than I do, often, at the time. And yes, it is that incongruence of the conscious and subconscious that can drive us crazy as we walk a tightrope of decision-making. It is always a constant isn't it, and we're always changing to accommodate it. Rebirth is almost second-by-second if you get technical about the issue. We are constantly morphing and accepting our circumstances as they come along. I truly appreciate from the bottom of my heart your deep response. It does help; it helped me in many ways. It is so good to communicate with people on a level that is deeper than just "hello" or "I'm fine, how are you?" It just doesn't cut it Ed; I like the meat of the matter. Thank you again;your points are all well taken, well written, and I must say, you have a fine mind Ed! :)

Have a great day! Your friend, Denise

Thank you for your kind comments Denise!
Who is Ed? (LOL).

In reality, (if anything is real) we are by nature represented by our subconscious mindset. The thing is that the older we are, the more chance we have had to reprogram it, whether accidentally or deliberately. So I believe, the older we are the more congruence we tend to experience between conscious and subconscious.
:-)
Richard

Following you Richard, will you accept following back?
You, me, Denise are all working on the same project, which is harnessing the massive potential of our own subconscious minds.

Also to be able to integrate the on/ off switch to our conscious mind, further, that we are only truly happy living from our heart.

Heart, Cardia in Greek is the seat of consciousness. In Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth, and the connection point with our Creator. Don't know if you are a believer, but D and I are.
Richard, we know your heart, and you are speaking from your heart.
You are actually doing three things at once, and we like that because you are speaking the truth in love, in your life with boldness to those that need it.
This is love given in effective action, so that's why I'm following you. Hence, You, D, and I have always had a connection, but now we all know about it.
Thank you, Richard, from my heart,
Suzay

Yes indeed, I do believe in something much higher than this earth plane. :) Nothing wrong with that, in fact, everything that is right. :) You rock Suzay! You know me; I think you do; a bit wild in my older years. The horse left the barn and she's running wild... needs to "hone it in" a little. Having some rough times; health. I'm very worried; doesn't look good. Please put in a prayer Suzay; it's just not clearing up. :) The time is okay as long as my Father says so. :)

Oh darn... I did it again. I've been up too long.... only 3 hours sleep the past couple of days. I am going through a health crisis, so please forgive me. I do know who you are, especially you and Frank Melton. You stick out in my mind because you remind me of family members who, unfortunately, are now passed, but remembered so fondly in my heart. You both have such class and mannerisms; I adore that! I am sorry Richard. I called DHind, Dave because of an old friend, David Hind. I had to clear that up too. His name is Alex.... brain fog. I do truly avoid making that mistake. Richard, thank you for your understanding. I know you do. :) It's that subconscious mind again, reminding me of something and then pushing them together somehow. I know you understand that well. Having an issue today. :)

Sorry... wink wink. :)

No problem at all, Denise ... but then you already know that!
:-)
Richard

Yes....I do, that is why you have class Richard! :)

Hi Suzay
I followed you back earlier (I thank you for the follow), then discovered this.

I find it much easier to believe in the big bang theory and evolution than creativity. However, occasionally, I admit, I wonder where it all came from.

I believe that at some time in the future we will discover much more about connections between human minds.

I love your last paragraph! Most of us don't need any religion to agree with the ethos behind those sentiments. Thank you so much for helping develop my awareness!
:-)
Richard

I Love you, I do understand you, and can see you have been working on the cleanout, hence your energy is high, as you are releasing. Plus you are a "get it done, no matter what, jump in, hair all wet" kind of person. You got stuff done, maybe got siblings fed, or to bed, and your toys were not dolls or make-believe. You survived many painful, tragic things, You had to survive, so push through. And the energy stored, and taken from your life as a child, is blowing out like Kilauea, erupting. Then you say you have a health challenge. ON the PM, a little later, be specific with me, OK?
So ASAP
On the back of your neck, at the base of your skull and again at the base of your neck, if you put your hand across there, are 2 main energy release points, or you may say valves.
*The top ones are in reverse of what you might think.
These are at the base of your skull.
found on the Right and Left of those big muscles that move your head.
Sort of Dig your fingers in, and your finger should each sit into a dipped in spot. Feel for them, these are the energy release spots coming off the brain. OK?
Next, you feel whether one side is releasing too much, or are they both the same. By just holding, these spots together, meaning at the same time you can, restrict/ slow the flow or even increase.
You want them to be equal.
AND, this is Key to know About These 2 Points, the energy switches from the right side of the brain to the left side of the body.
This is the Only place this happens!
Stop for 10 minutes, and play with this. Also do the other 2, in line with the first 2 points, and these sit in finger depression places on neck bone C-7. Cervical-7. When done, slowly move your neck around. Look at "butterflies" on both shoulders, straight up, down at your heart, etc,
Energy check. Energy balance check. Check! Check! Get up and check how slow walking feels. Are you Dizzy? -Move slower, and get a bottle or glass of cold water.
If your hand got very hot from touching the points, run cold water over them, then drink your glass or bottle of water.
Sorry, I cannot be there, or I'd help you with this.
Pay attention to how you feel, and I'll PM you in a couple of hours, OK?
Suzay

EBV Epstein Barr virus or a COPD Endobronchial Valve problem?
Me thinks^^^, you MUST sleep to heal. Got Vitamin C? Remind me in the PM, I don't want to forget so you don't go septic and die, my dear.
Do you have a Free Clinic in the area where you live. It would be free or on a sliding scale. You are acting like walking pneumonia.
Can't breathe laying down, so can't sleep laying down.
Thyroid problem? Hashimoto's or Raynauld's, tell me what your fingernails look like.
OK later

Part of the challenge is that everyone wants to see change happen. But nobody wants to make it happen or to leave the cocoon. For any kind of transformation to take place, there must be a price to pay. And in the end, you will appreciate your decision or choice to pay the price.
Thanks for sharing, an intriguing post.

I agree. It is important not to stay in the same place for too long, allowing stagnation or fear to get in the way. The metaphor is perfect for each day, just like the lotus flower that rises above the muck to thrive in this crazy world. We're all in a state of transformation. Thank you for commenting on my post. I truly appreciate it! Enjoy your day tomorrow. :)

Very beautiful, Sister and Friend. The transformation is evident, and evidence as well. The wolves will sniff to find you, but are confused because, they lost your scent.
Heavenly Father holds you up away from danger.
He hands you over to our Big Brother, and you are seated in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus. Seated forevermore in victory over this life if you want it to be so, and Butterflies do fly free.
Suzay

Yes they do! And they truly appreciate their freedom. Thank you for your kind words, my friend. They are always appreciated; I know they are from your heart.

Have a pleasant and relaxing night, and enjoy your day tomorrow.

Denise,
Another problem is lack of habitat, which is taken away by development. That is why it is important for people to replace some of it with their landscapes. I liken the habitat to WA for us to use to make our transformation.

I agree Frank! I plant Asclepias yearly and I love the turnout, always having a good one. We used no chemicals on our property, so they loved it, and the chrysalis turnout was very good. Butterflies were all over my yard; I had lots of Lantana and butterfly bushes so they had plenty to land on, along with the birds and the bees. :)

Have a great night Frank! :)

I agree that WA is transformational, with the new friends that feel like family, one can't go wrong! :)

Change is necessary and as you say we must embrace it to grow.

Thank you

I agree! I've made a lot of changes lately and there has been some transformation in my life. The change was necessary as most of them are. Thank you for commenting on the post. It's always nice to see you Alex. I think I called you "Dave" one time; I had a friend named David Hind. Oh well, live and learn. See, it's another change I had to make when I realized it. :) I apologize.

Have a good night!

No need for apology, I do not stand on ceremony, or anything else so formalized. I am quite happy just to receive replies, what's in a name after all.

I have been called many things by many people and I answer to all.

I am still working through changes, but I am getting better at finalizing the changes that were needed.

Alex

Thanks Alex! It does take time to get people's names down and I have had to peek a couple of times to make sure I am not making a mistake. Names are important, so thank you for letting me off the hook! :)
