Affiliate Analogy Continues….

H is for Heroes

Typically, a hero is a person who has special achievements, abilities, or personal qualities and is regarded as a role model. Often these people come to our attention because they have done some courageous act, often sacrificing their own safety for the concern of others. Seeing others give unselfishly of themselves, having courage to step up in dangerous situations, loving all people…….these are characteristics we want to emulate and instill in our young people.

Different Types of Heroes

There are many different types of heroes.

The comic book superheroes certainly exemplify good qualities.

Superman is one of the more popular characters. He has super powers and can fly to wherever the latest crisis is occurring, making everything perfect.

Another group of heroes is born from the casualties of war.

Our young soldiers are innocent young men and women that sacrificed their lives to protect the freedoms we enjoy in our country.

A third group of heroes is nameless; everyday people that go through life without any recognition.

They are the moms, dads, neighbors, friends, and even strangers that give of themselves to help others. Most or the time this is just an everyday pattern of behavior; the neighbor who is always assisting others, like bringing a hot meal to a neighbor who is not feeling well. Sometimes these everyday people are thrust into the spotlight; seeing someone in danger and stepping in to help. All of these people demonstrate a kindness and love for others, certainly qualities worth copying.

Fake Heroes

Unfortunately, there is another group of heroes that I believe are undeserving of the title…..the celebrities. Pop culture often confuses popularity with heroism. Young people especially consider their favorite singer or movie star as a hero to be worshiped. Certainly, celebrities can be good people, but in my opinion, they do not deserve the hero title. The acts that make them famous are usually self-serving and are not teaching anything positive to their followers. They are worshiped because they have lots of money and can buy a lot of fancy toys, big houses, and expensive clothes. Their value comes from external sources. The true heroes have internal qualities that cannot be purchased.

Is Wealthy Affiliate a Hero?

Yes and No. It is so easy to have a “hero worship” mentally when we first get involved in the program. It offers so much and we have such high expectations. The people, the training, the support are so impressive. We focus on the external picture that WA provides. We hear about the successes of some of the members and we think just by admiring them, it will happen to us.

We soon find out that WA is more than just a pretty face. It is not the superhero that swoops in and makes everything perfect. The qualities that lead to success come from within each person. It’s our commitment and hard work that brings the success. WA provides the tools.

However, there are heroes within WA. There are so many people that give back to the community unselfishly. Members that have achieved a certain success share their knowledge with all of us. Without even asking, they provide suggestions and motivation to keep us moving forward. .

Wealthy Affiliate has all the requirements we need to succeed, both external and internal.

There is also one more kind of hero. They will do anything they can to meet their goals. Also the break many laws along the way.
For example Anonymous.

Unfortunately that is true. Thanks for reading.

Funny thing is I had to do a SAT college placement essay on the effectiveness of heroes Debbie. Brings back memories!

We really need to be more discerning of our heroes!

What a great read....

Thank you...appreciate you stopping by and commenting.

Very nice Debbie, thinking about heroes makes me smile and hold back a tear too. A Hero pays the price without asking what the price is.
Bless you,
Sam and Deb

Beautifully said. Thanks for the visa.

A Hero solves a problem. Look at the two idiots trying to start a nuke war, they will never be a hero. We as a World are becoming greedy selfish and inconsiderate to others meaning we are running out of Heroes in the youth of today.

It's unfortunate but true. Appreciate the comment.

Now you are speaking my language.ha ha

Yes, there are certainly unseen heroes here who do their thing not for the rank or fame, but because it's their nature.
There are people who overcome their own limitations- physical, psychological, etc. People who struggle with technical things or writing,etc..It's a life of overcoming and dedication, and everyone here is a hero in this or that sense. Thanks for the post, Debbie.:)

Thank you for reading and commenting.
