Affiliate Analogy Continues….

B is for Bridge

Webster’s Dictionary defines bridge as a means of connection or transition. It can also be a structure carrying a pathway over an obstacle. There are many famous bridges. The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco is one of the more recognizable and most used bridges in the United States.

The Bridge connects San Francisco to California’s northern counties. As of January 2014, over two billion vehicles (2,025,883,491 ) have crossed the bridge since its opening on May 28, 1937. This includes both Northbound and Southbound traffic. One only needs to look at a map from 1937 and compare it to today’s map to appreciate how the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge contributed to the growth of the area. Marin County was one of the quiet communities that benefited from the building of the bridge and was its main proponent. Increase property values, new construction, and increased tourism all contributed to the bridge’s popularity. In 1930, Marin had 41,500 people. Many of those people had jobs in San Francisco, but the car ferries that carried commuters from Marin to the city could not keep up with the demand. Of course, while the bridge brought many benefits, it also doomed outdated businesses. Once the bridge went up, cars took over and dependence on ferries, trains, and buses diminished. While the ferries cut their fares in half in order to keep passengers, Greyhound was announcing plans to start half-hour trips into the city. By 1939, the Northwestern Pacific Railroad reported that its Marin-to-San Francisco ferry service was awash in red ink, losing an estimated $1,000 every day. The Golden Gate Bridge was the structure that eliminated the obstacles for people living in the northern counties of California to be able to work in San Francisco.

Today, the county's population is more than 252,000. The Bridge was instrumental in this growth by doing away with old, outdated systems and bringing in a modern day solution to the gridlock that was developing. Source: http://www.marinij.com/article...

Brilliant, Debbie!
You have presented some amazing background and brought us forward to an interesting lesson.
This coaching is pulling the creativity from its participants.

Wealthy Affiliate is also the foundation for that bridge as you have hinted.

All the best!
David

Thank you for reading and commenting. I'm challenging myself...all in an effort to produce content that people will want to read and comment on...so appreciate your time.

Thank you Debbie. A great analogy! The same thing has happened in Maryland wit Potomac and Patuxent river bridges that replaced ferries!

So appreciate comments from such a prolific writer such as yourself. It gives me the confidence to keep going.

This is truly transformational Debbie
