What Would You Do If You Were In My Shoes?

I have a FaceBook Group Where I promote online business ideas and share posts from my site and WA. Of recent three other businesses have begun to promote there as well.

I am unbothered because as I said I am promoting more than one business and I really don't benefit from everything that I share.

I try to use the idea of giving value to my group members without worrying about how much of that traffic I get. I want to build a credible business so as far as possible I check things that I post. If I am unsure I say so even when I share.

The Impact Of The Other Guys

I notice this post several times in the group of late. From what I learned about spotting scams this one seems to scream SCAM loud and clear.

The only record of this business seem to be their Facebook page. They do not use a business email but rather use a gmail account.

Additionally, I cannot find any record of this company not even ta website but you can see what they said about that in their post.

There is no information on the person behind the company or any information about the company itself for that matter, on their page.

There is no contact info except in this post. I notice that all of their activities have been in my group and one other.

Their page has been in place 3 months.

My Concern - Going Forward

I am concerned because I do not wish for persons to be exposed to scams within my group. I feel some responsibility toward the members.

I actually started to address this in the group a few minutes ago, then I stopped. I thought it best to seek your advice before proceeding.

My way would be to do my research then call out this scammer in no uncertain terms making it clear to members why I feel this way.

I would follow up by blocking the individual.

WAFamily, I would really like your input on this. Just some advice before I blaze in there because while I don't like scammers I really would like to handle this tactfully but at the same time protect the members of this group.

I value your input.

I get quite hot under the collar about these scams. Block them straight away, as they should be online somewhere. That way you will protect your followers. I closed my Face Book page about 18 months ago, as I was sick of the scammers and at that point they were hard to get rid of. I recently went and got some professional advice on reading their jargon, as I had missed some points, when I had someone pop up in another platform that I use. Luckily it's real easy to block someone.

Hmmm. Lynette we may all need an education on that. I know I do. In my personal life online I believe I've been able to keep out of their reach but this is another ball game.

I know I will need to be vigilant. I believe I can spot them but I know they use so many different rouses that you really have to remain vigilant at all times.

That is the hard part.

Thanks for your input.

You're welcome.

I don't know how your group is set up, but I think, after researching this other business, if necessary you can block them. I would not begin to discuss that business in your sessions because it will change the focus of the group. The members of your group can continue outside the group with that other business if they are so inclined.

Thank you Jim. I dealt with it and left an explanation not in great detail but indicating that it was not a genuine company just in case anyone had already been taken in.

I figured I owed them that much just in case they had gotten involved with them.

I understand however. I'll ensure we don't veer off to this topic.

You handled well.

Thank you Jim.

Thank you for your input. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Candy,
If you are the administrator of the group you can remove the spammer from the group. Block the person so they cannot post on your group again.

That's how I would handle it. I have 3 different group that represent each of my businesses. I get to approve every member and I have verification questions that must be met to be approved in each group.

This is how I run my groups. Others might do it differently.

Barbara

Hi Barbara, the idea of verification questions to join is something I like and may incorporate in the future.

That's a good one.

Thank you for responding. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Candy Benn

You can still go back and incorporate verification questions.
Just go into the admin tools and select membership questions. You can add up to 3 questions and and future members must answer the questions or you can decline their request to join.

Thanks Barbara. I certainly will. Thank you.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

You're very welcome.
Enjoy your day as well.

Hi Guys so I blocked and deleted and followed up with explanation for the members just in case anyone had actually tried to do business with the company.

Thanks for your input.

If anyone has anything else to add that would help others in the future feel free to add your input. Just know I have taken action on it now.

Well done!

Thank you Jeff.

You're welcome, Candy!
