In our business Emails play a big part but sometimes managing Emails can be a daunting task. I literally get about a hundred emails per day and I haven't even gotten my email marketing list set up yet.

I try hard to answer all of them but quite frankly I am usually unsuccessful.

So how do you do it? How do you manage the email monster?

Tips for Managing the Email Monster

I did a bit of reading on this idea and here are some suggestions.

  1. Filter all emails except those sent to you directly. In other words, emails that are Cc are treated as less important.
  2. Filter those persons who you know tend to spam you or generally send a lot of forwards no matter how irrelevant.
  3. You do not have to answer it if you are not the direct recipient.
  4. Have a scheduled time to read and respond to emails. This way they will not constantly interrupt your daily task.
  5. Create common reply.

How I Deal With the Email Giant

The above sound like pretty good strategies. However, when it comes to WA emails I really like to respond promptly.

Blogs can wait but I especially feel guilty when I notice someone was asking a question but I was too busy to notice.

Sometimes I subscribe to programs but then if I realize there are sending too many mails that I am not at all interested in I unsubscribe or let them go to the Spam folder.

I may have opted for the program but some programs are not clear about what you are getting into during the sign up process so I opt out later.

Maybe I was interested at the time but it no longer applies so I will opt out.

I read and respond to as many as I can but if I don't understand what is being talked about I will move along. Sometimes I may read twice but still not get it so off I go.

If I am the one who started a communication then I do believe I have a duty to respond to all communications.

Lastly I have begun to use one email addresses for business and one for personal communications. I do this because quite frankly I often forget to check the others. I like to have them connected to my mobile device so I am always aware of communications. Added to this in the event that I have to go out I am still able to work.

I could be waiting in the bank or traveling for instance while answering my emails. This way I am able to maximize my time.

I usually prioritise my mail from WA. I answer question, responses, etc sorry by as you can see my blogs I’ve had to put last as they require detailed reading and answering, however I look for the ones to congratulate. I don’t get any mail from anywhere else.

Ok Yvonne. I guess that makes a bit easier for now.

I have never been an email person, usually I go in 3 times per year just to delete everything. so its cleaned out. The amount of email I have received since i joined WA is mind blowing. But i do take the time to read and respond. Gonna take some getting used to. But i get to read some really good posts :)

Lol. I get you. I was pretty much like you until WA too.

:)

I am a member of at least 30 membership sites so you can imagine how many emails I get in a single day. I have learned which one's to mark as important, non urgent, immediate, and needed an answer yesterday. I read every email from WA although I don't answer them all.

Wow. That's a lot of sites. I can only imagine. Well do you get all cleaned out in a day or do you usually get a back up for several days until you are forced to start deleting?

I work from home on the telephone. I go through the emails when I’m doing that. And then again in the evening

Well that's nice. Having that type of freedom and Being able to multitask really does help.

I multi task my emails in the same way when I am out and about, Candy! You can also right click on your left hand profile picture and go to account settings then scroll all the way to the bottom and you can adjust which emails you would like to receive if that helps any! I hope you had a GREAT day!
