Hi,

One of my new sites is an automated site that we set up through cPanel (registered here but not hosted here). There are RSS feeds and a ticker bar. However, I wanted

It depends on what you mean by "automated" and "ticker". If you are just displaying information like stock prices, then it'll be fine. No issue with that, as it sounds like you're creating original content.

If you are pulling content from other sources, you may run into issues. Google can identify sites which publish more unoriginal content than original, and if you start pulling content from sources like Amazon or other news sites, and that content dwarfs the amount of original content you publish, you may struggle to rank. I know this from experience.

So it really depends on what you are automating in this scenario.

Hi

Syndicated content does not rank as well as updated original succinct content that you create weekly.

Hey Abie! That’s a great article. Thanks for that! I’ve read it twice and bookmarked it for continued reference. It’s full of great advice and technical direction to assist with this type of site. Some would lead you to believe that republished content or, I suppose, back links to your original content, are not good. But the largest platforms on the planet do both and it increases their growth exponentially. This article reinforces that, but gives specific guidelines to do so and the pitfalls to avoid. This isn’t sayin 100% original content isn’t an excellent way to gain traction, but there are news feeds and updated info charts that people want. You can’t create that 24 hours a day. Google and the algorithms are aware of that and respect the automated feeds while elevating sites that also give continued, relevant posts with reviews and oped types of information. At least that’s what appears to be the case. Thanks again for your input. It’s much appreciated!!

Darrin

Awesome and thorough reply, thank you for your time and effort.

It is great it has helped and so happy for you.

Much obliged and best wishes.

The content used will be found on other internet websites as well so ranking will not be the same as original content.

If you can find a way to include original content posts as well that will help the ranking.

That was my actual question. “However, I wanted to create a Blog menu item and continue writing for this site, reviews and such. Will this type of site still rank within Google's parameters?” Not sure why responses don’t address the actual question but only the word “automated”. So, if I add original content on a consistent basis to a site with feeds, will it still rank? That’s still my question.

Should you consider creating a Wordpress website at WA for this content? Now before it gets too big.

Lily 😁🎶

Hi! Thanks for your question. Do you mean a separate site where I write posts like we all do for our sites and link to it from my automated site? This is a WP site, but I couldn’t have it hosted at WA because it requires the use of cPanel in the development and ongoing operation of the site and WA doesn’t offer that option. But a second site that’s specifically for the original posts is a great consideration.

Thanks for any feedback. 😎

Darrin

You are welcome, Darrin. It's always good to look ahead to problems that can slow your business down in the future.

Lily

Hey Darrin,

All websites that Google indexes are eventually ranked. The question might be, will an automated site rank well, and again, that would depend on the queries used.

Most likely though, an automated site would tend to rank lower than a site where an actual human being was adding information on a regular basis.

Hope you find this helpful.

Right, I see where you’re coming from. And that would tie in with my suggestion and primary question regarding the possibility of a blog within the site where posts would be consistent and relevant to the keywords people would search out. That’s the one part of my question no one seemed to recognize. I AM referring to adding new content on a regular basis. That was my specific question and suggestion. So, even with a site of this design, original content within a blog post menu item should help the ranking of the sight, right? And thank you for your response. 😎

Have any of you had success with automated websites created through places like Fiverr? Primarily I'm referring to news or financial market-related sites. If so, were you able

Just raise a support request and the guys will take care of it

Yes, I did well before I joined WA and they did a good job but I am yet to port it over.

Thanks for your reply. Were you having trouble bringing it over to WA, or just have yet to do so?

I haven't because the hosting has already been paid for.

Hello Bola.
When you say hosting are you also referring to the server that carries your website. I am asking because I'm looking into another company to design my website and they are talking about a server to carry the website that comes with an annual fee. If I choose to stay with this design company and utilize their server once the annual server is up will I be able to transfer my website over to WA. Or is it possible to run the same website on both servers at the same time.
Thanks for any information you have to offer.
Be safe
Mike

Hi
Firstly, although technically you can have more than one server hosting your website, it is a lot complicated and I do not have enough space to address it here. For the purposes of what you described you have one hosting account and a registration account for your domain.
It depends on your contractual arrangements and the complexities of the website. For example integration with other systems etc.
One has to weigh up the benefits of transferring and it is not about cost alone.

Unfortunately, it is much better to do your own writing. If have/hire someone else do it, they will not always capture the real you and you will have to edit anyway, so it would be a waste of time. Fiverr writers have a tendency to copy and paste to earn their quick buck and google will not allow the article then.

Thanks Joe! And I definitely agree. I’d still be doing my own blog roll article creation. By automated, it would be primarily news feeds and updated financial data, news tickets and I suppose some news articles. But I’d still be writing regular posts and financial product reviews.

What exactly do you mean by automated websites?

Hi Mary! This site would be automated as far as news tickers and continual financial updates. There would be an RSS feed that also sends over relative news articles. But I’d be writing reviews and other blog posts on a regular basis. Would that be SEO friendly?

I really hope this question gets some attention as this is very essential these days...

I hope Abie and AJ's answers were helpful, Darrin!

Jeff

Yes as the link is unique to you.

The reason I began to wonder is that I’m an affiliate say for Walmart, and I have the app on my devices, same with Amazon. When I click on a link when researching a product to buy, it always takes me to the app on my phone or pad. I’m cool with that since the apps are easy to use, but it made me wonder if the affiliate who sold me on that product would be compensated when I purchase. So, it also made me wonder the same for my affiliate links to Walmart or Amazon.

It is a good question and I have already forwarded the link for you to read I am still trying find you an answer.

That's the Walmart faq

https://affiliates.walmart.com/#!/faqs

There's an email on the page I would definitely forward a note asking them - If I find something else I'd sure let you know.

Hi, as per Quora seems Amazon doesn't if the link opened the app only if users has accepted the settings to open link directly in amazon however I could be very wrong.

I would try find more information in relation to Walmart.

I think it's too broad to be effective. Some sidebar ads CAN bring is revenue, but your basically randomly asking random people to buy something. My advice would be to try it and see, but I personally do not do this. I have tried some versions of this in the past and it was unsuccessful, but I see lots of websites with this type of promotion, so maybe it's effective for them.

Awesdome! Thanks for your input Nathaniell!

Thanks for the input Marion and Sterl! I already have a great format with widgets where I can place a new page there, as Marion says, called "resourses". If I'm thinking right (which is perpetyually "iffy"), then I would make the page full of trademark icons with the Resourse or Merchant's name underneath. Part of the purpose is so that return site visitors who know what vendor or product they want, could quickly find that vendor. The other purpose is so that customers who trust my websites could click on the merchants I work with and go find the products they are looking for. If you have any further thoughts on that, please pass them along.

Thanks again!
Darrin

I think it is permissible, provided the list is not too long, and also their relevance to your domain - your niche. Again, Kyle might give you an expert answer. But with the use of a widget, you can do that so easily, but the implication is what you need to be sure of.

Some people create a separate page called "Resources" to list the resources they use (with their affiliate links). You can add the Resources page to your menu.

Do you know if a vendor page like this would affect Google ranking in any way?

Like any other individual post or page, a resources page will not significantly affect the rankings of other pages and posts on the website. Each post and page is ranked individually for the search term that someone types into the browser's search box.

Has anyone else gone into WordPress and noticed that a large number of posts have "No Value" listed under SEO Title, SEO Description, and SEO Keywords? This is the third time

Are you clicking "Update" after you add these? If so, then they should stay there. I can test on my end, but there is no reason that saved content should be "vanishing" into thin air.

I wonder if you have a plugin that could be conflicting with things here?

I just checked and I see the same thing on my site. I don't know if this is an All in One SEO problem, or what happened.

A quick fix for the time being is to check these two boxes in the All in One SEO settings: https://www.screencast.com/t/HKpQl7gH9

That will auto-generate descriptions based on the content you have on the page, so even though it says "no value" in your post lists, there will actually be a description generated. It's not a pretty custom one, but it'll be there.

Meta Titles are auto-generated anyway I think. Not having a meta description (or title for that matter) won't directly hurt your SEO or search engine rankings. Many times Google just grabs content from your site anyway. However, it is good to have custom meta descriptions when you can.

Frustrating when they disappear though! I'll PM SiteSupport as well and see what they say.

I have noticed this a couple of times.
I thought it was just me forgetting to
put in information in.

I haven't noticed that

Hey Darrin,

Please DO let SiteSupport know of this issue: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/support

Next time, be sure to take screen prints if you can, as that too will help them so they can trouble shoot the server your website is sitting on.

Hope you find this helpful.
