You Don't Know What You Don't Know
This time last year, I didn't even know what a blog was. I swear! It hadn't even entered into my mind. I was working in Corporate America(still am) and sinking into depression because I absolutely hated(still do) my job and saw no way out. I was studying for the PMP(Professional Project Management). This was at the time what seemed like a way out of this "stuck" feeling I had. God had led me this wonderful Facebook group that gives access to financial knowledge that I did not have. I am still in it learning by the way.
This group is a community similar to WA where each one teaches one. All questions or posts in the group must be financially related. If someone posts about their success then they must include the HOW TO'S in their post. This is done so that the onlookers who are trying to reach financial goals will be able to replicate the process and in turn reach their own financial successes.
One post in particular talked about side hustles. By this time I was(searching for my own side hustle, passive income, break from the rat race, whatever you may call it. I was trying to "GET OUT" of Corporate America by any way possible. Now there is absolutely no self promotion or promoting of another brand at all and there are may rules around this. But somehow someone from WA slipped in and dropped their link and I caught it!
Knowledge Is Power
I know you are wondering how I would know what an affiliate was if I had no idea what a blog was. I was previously primed for that drop off. Well the owner of that group created an Academy(hence access to financial knowledge) and one of the courses I've taken teaches about how to find side hustles that you can turn into some form of passive income. An Affiliate program is what resonated with me the most. I had been researching about how to do this, but the directions were so arduous and I couldn't put it together. So BAM! Here comes the link out of Affiliate Heaven.
When I got here I knew immediately that this was a valuable platform. The Facebook group teaches about value as well. The awesome community support, the step by step CLEAR instructions and the fact that you get free websites.(with an S) Who does that?!
In just 3 short months, I've built a website, created content and most of all I've met a lot of new people that like to help. That's a great community when it's a community of helpers. I've found a new joy that has erased that "stuck" feeling. It doesn't pain me so much to go to work because I know that I am building something that is my very own. I get to meet more people along the way and I am finding my true passion on this journey. With the help of WA God has led me back to my joy.
What's Next? The Rest Of My Life
My website is still in its infancy stages so I've set up a couple of goals to help me achieve success and also build it out more
Goal1: Increase My Post-2/week in 3 months
Goal2: Increase My Views-500/month in 6 months
Goal3: Increase my contact list-100 in 6 months
I thank the creators of WA who give people like me a chance to improve their lives. People who have a vision but lack the knowledge to see that vision come to fruition. Even if I don't make a dime off of my website, I've gained so much knowledge and freedom that it will take lifetimes to give a proper thanks. So, thank you Kyle, thank you, Carson and thank you to all the people who make this community what it is. Let's be great together!

Great post Davona, I love WA too and I remember studying for the PMP also in an attempt to "get ahead". This community is definitely the best and very unselfish - weird compared to the dog eat dog of corporate America. Best wishes - Shirley
Thank you Shirley! Yes you understand the thought behind taking the PMP. It's a great way to make a great income but I kept thinking about the increased stress that comes along with it. And already being a Business Analyst, I didn't know how much more stress I could take. I appreciate your encouragement and can't wait to post about my exit from my 9-5. Very well written! you described exactly how I felt when I stumbled on to a blog that was promoting WA! I had actually been doing research on affiliate marketing and was getting very frustrated but when I followed the link to Wealthy Affiliate and signed up I felt immediately that I had come to a place where I was most likely to find all the answers I was looking for.
