More Smiles per Hour
Guess what I’ve been doing today. Smiling.
No particular reason, just smiling for smiles sake.
I woke up this morning with some song in my head about wanting to be unhappy but never having the time. I must have heard it recently and it’s stuck, but that’s all the words I can remeber and all that I know about it. Can anyone help.
So, I thought, I’m going to have a smiley day. If I was attempting to smile all through the day, was it going to be a cheeky little smile, lips closed or one of those with the lips slightly parted or even better, with the cheeks runkled up.
Go on, admit it, you’re all practising your smiles now.
I’m not normally a sad person, but I just wanted to make sure I smiled a lot more than normal today. Every time I thought about it I reinforced my smile. One of those cheeky grins that if anyone was with me they would be thinking – “now what’s he up to this time, he knows something”.
And do you know, my day actually went better. I’ve got loads and loads done. Made all my phone calls, finished the stills and the text for the next video and generally had an excellent day. It must have been the smiles.
And now, time for a chip butty. That’s English a Fries Sandwich. Do you know, in France, I’ve seen chip butties being advertised at the services as Sandwiche Americaine. The cheek of it, we invented them.
Anyway, the long and the short of it is. Keep smiling. It works.

Well Dave, I didn’t attempt to smile until you asked. And it still wasn’t a heart-felt smile. More of a smirk to be precise. I don’t know what happened to it. I had one once upon a time, but that ship sailed.
My stone-faced look is the dominant one these days. That’s learned behavior that I guess can be unlearned. I hope!

It worked for me. Psychologists say it has a positive effect and that it can be learnt, just as down-faced is learnt.
They say that the corners of your mouth are an indication of your mood, up for upbeat and down for ....

I’ve almost completed a video in one day. A few finishing touches in the morning. Check it over when I’m wide awake.
Just lay here reading. 10 minutes and I will hit the zzzz

This one is 10 minutes but takes about 12 hours to put it all together. I could do it in less, but quality counts and the feedback I get shows that viewers recognise the quality and effort.

It does yes. There is a lot of explaining to do with each part and it has to be right. The lads are learning and sitting exams based on these videos. When I get feedback that says they are the best on YouTube it makes it worthwhile. And I get a lot of comments like that.

Smiling does work. People respond to a smile in a positive way and that often smile themselves. That has the same effect back to us.
We can choose how we look at things.
The adage "The glass is always half full" applies to more than just fluid in a container.

It certainly does Alex. Why be glum, even if things are bad. We all have our down moments but they should be just moments and then we should smile again.
