Attention to Detail
A near disaster was avoided recently. Returning from Nice on the French Riviera I checked in my suitcase at Nice Airport. A very stressless day, their trams make travel from the City so easy now, especially on a perfectly cooked steak and a bottle of Red at luchtime.
Where are you travelling to Sir, asked the check-in clerk.
Bristol, UK
Thank you, Sir
Whow, whow whow. Wait a minute. Why have you put a Gatwick destination sticker on my bag, I’m going to Bristol, you’ve just asked me that.
Oh dear, I’m so sorry, she said and corrected the mistake.
And then she said ….. I think I’ve made the same mistake with some others. Never mind.
NEVER MIND … what about those poor people who are going to Gatwick while their suitcase sits on the tarmac in France. And those others she mentioned.
Which got me thinking about Websites and Videos and all sorts of WA stuff.
If attention to detail is so important to me, if I would have been “slightly” irritated if I arrived in Bristol and my baggage was over a hundred miles away in London, then wouldn’t our viewers, our clients, be just as upset if we made silly mistakes on our web material, our blogs and twittles, that go all around the world.
And a true story to emphacise the point.
Many moons ago, when emails were the latest technology. When you were a king (or queen) if you were allocated an email account at work …
Our manager never checked anything he wrote, broke most of the things he tried to fix, never turned up on time for meetings, and so the disaster list goes on.
One day he was so frustrated at the team leaders lack of detail on end of shift reports that he wrote them all a nasty email, all in CAPITALS.
He wanted to say … At the end of your shift, please complete all the paperwork.
What he sent … At the end of your shit, please complete all the paperwork. Er … OK
Attention to detail, lesson learnt.
Take care folks, soon be the weekend.

If it’s not one thing it’s another that’ll give you the shifts… Thanks Dave.
For me if I see glaring spelling or grammatical errors I start to question the professionalism of the person who put up the page or post.
When I see that I’ve done it I give myself a palm slap to the forehead and a Homer Simpsonesque Doh !!!!😣
I'm in total accord with you Andrew. We all make the odd error but they should be a rarity if you are going to publish something; and its not just the poorly educated, some so called smart people are just as bad.
Absolutely true Jeff. He still works for the same company and he's still the same.
FriSatSu is upon us, just off out for the day.

It's a relief that you didn't lose your luggage. It is sometimes scary to think that one little mistake can mess it all up in the computer system. 😞

Hey Bux!
Attention to detail! That should always be the case anywhere, anytime!
I work in the healthcare industry. If we are not meticulous about ATTENTION TO DETAILS, just imagine, how many wrong organs, wrong limbs, wrong medications, wrong anything could have taken place that would mess up someone’s life???
It will be a total disaster!
Thank you for this post Bux! It’s a serious reflection on ATTENTION TO DETAIL that needed serious attention!
Cheers,
Maria 🌹
Yes indeedy Maria. There are cases I've read about where the wrong leg has been removed, can't put it back.
Enjoy your day

Yeap, a lot of lives changed due to INATTENTION TO DETAILS!
Have a great day Bux!
Cheers,

Hi Maria,
This is so true. Decades ago when I worked very briefly at a hospital they had implemented a system where they would tag the side of folks going in for operations. They had a mishap where the surgeon operated on the wrong side and they lost a major lawsuit as well as had a severe image issue after that.
Regards,
Jason
Hello Sting! How have you been?
They have been tagging limbs body parts since countless law suits/ errors had taken place. But imagine getting amputated, when you just came in for a regular check up? 😱
Insane right?
Cheers,
Maria 🌹
Hi Maria,
I would think so many educated professionals would understand the charts and photos and xrays and whatnot to know, but if they need to take this measure so someone leaves with all the right limbs and organs intact then far be it from me to cry foul, hah hah.
Regards,
Jason
Not nice Maria. Unfortunately it happens. Whatever happened to check twice cut once.
So easy to think of it that way Sting. But there are number of cases that these professionals have to deal with, not just in one facility, but more than even 5 facilities in a day. They don’t deal with just few patients, but more than a few.
So it would come to almost a routine if you have to do it quite more often. Thus those mistakes happened. If one mistakenly grabbed a chart indicating left limb surgery, next to the one that was supposed to be for right limb surgery, BOOOMM ! A mishap just occurred!
Thinking beyond, I am really grateful that I made it to 42 years in the healthcare industry not making any serious mistake, not even one!!!
Someone is looking after me! 🙏🏼 Thank you God!
I would be institutionalized if I made mistakes that would affect someone’s major change in life! ☹️
Exactly Bux!
But sometimes, it requires more than just to check twice, cut one!!! 😊
You said someone is looking after you, and I would extend that to include the patients you've overseen as well. But you are a professional and an artist, so your attention to fine details aids you greatly my Aquarian friend,
Its a scary world.
