The 5 Crucial Components Of A Successful Online Business

I attended a webinar recently from a digital marketer that I wasn't particularly familiar with but he shared some great tips on what he considers to be the five most important aspects of creating a digital marketing business.

I thought you might be interested in them so here are those five things (plus a few of my thoughts on them)

1: Build a Network.

Make friends with other marketers in your niche, whatever that niche might be. When you need help call on them. Help them out when they need it. As members of Wealthy Affiliate we are very fortunate to be surrounded my so many helpful and friendly people so be sure to play your part by giving and taking help whenever possible.

Why is having this network of friends so important? 3 reasons:

First, working from home can be lonely, daunting, and just plain difficult. It's easy to procrastinate. It's easy to get bogged down on some little obstacle. But when you've got others to turn to for moral support, it gets a whole lot easier.

I can tell you from experience that having a friend that you can work with can be the difference between quitting when times get tough, and working through problems until they are solved.

Second, you can get quick help. Having trouble loading that widget or formatting that ebook? Contact your friend who's a wiz at it and you've got the help you need. Be there to help them, too.

Third, promotion. Do you think it's just coincidence when you get 5 or 10 emails promoting the same product? No. Those are friends of the person launching the product. If you get to the point where you are creating your own products then having good friends to promote them will save you a fortune on advertising.

2. Build an Email List.

This is the number one focus in my business at present for the very simple reason – if you've got a list then you've got people to promote to. The better and bigger the list, the more prosperous your business can be. If you're not list building, begin now - as in TODAY.

I'm going to be writing some articles about this on my site but if there is interest then I might do some training here too. I'm certainly no expert in list building but I'm working on becoming one because I can see the value in it.

3. Stay Focused.

So many times I see people

jump from this to that

to the thing over there

and around and around

and they never stay focused

on

one

thing

for more than a day or two

and then they wonder

WHY??

they aren't successful.

Pick something. ONE thing. Then FOCUS on that one thing until you've got it done. Eliminate distractions. If need be, REMOVE distractions from your immediate vicinity. Set a work schedule and STICK to the work schedule.

Here's something to make it simple:

The more focused you are,

the more money you will earn.

It's really that simple!

4. Take Action.

Goal setting and creating plans for building your business are great - but they are a complete waste of time if you don't actually get off your butt and Take Action

Review your goals regularly. Create plans for achieving them regularly. Take action daily.

5. A Portfolio Of Products.

Whether you are an affiliate marketer or selling your own products, you need to build up a portfolio of products to sell.

Don't put all you eggs in one basket. Sometimes the product will tank - just dump it and move on to the next one. If you were depending on that product - you're screwed! But if you have others to promote then you can move seamlessly on to them until you hit on the one that sells like hot cakes!

Having your own products on sale is a perfect compliment to your affiliate promotions and is something you can offer as an add-on or bonus.

Some of these things you can do today but some of them might be things you want to put on the back-burner for a while. That's fine, as long as you don't forget about them!
