Spam Trackbacks - More Words I'm Blocking
Hi All
Just another quick post from me today.
A few months ago I wrote about a problem I was having with spammy trackback comments on a popular post on one of my sites. You can read it here:
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/dave07/blog/my-3rd-wannivers...
I talked about how I had dramatically reduced the volume of these by banning specific words in comments on my posts (again you can read the list on the other post)
I've started to see an increase in these spam trackbacks again so I just thought I'd let you know which words I've added to my banned list in case you wanted to update yours.

Good luck in the battle against spam!

Dave

All good Jeff, thanks.
Hope all is well with you too. I see you are still as prolific a writer as ever!

Dave
I'm glad to hear that, Dave! Financial crunches abound, but I am still moving ever forward, my friend! I'm still writing since that is passion! Keep succeeding!
Jeff
Never allow Trackback or Pingback, it may harmful to your site in the future.
Just disable the allow button for Trackback and Pingback on your back office dashboard.
Go to Settings then Discussion and make sure the box is unchecked for allowing Trackback and Pingback
As per the image below
Hi Andre
I have already done this but still they seem to keep slipping through. It's very frustrating.

Then add those you have on your list also in the discussion field at the bottom called Disallowed Comment Keys don't forget to save

Great idea. I have been getting a lot of spammy comments that are thousands and thousands of words that are mostly pornography!! What the? Since I am writing about diabetes on that blog, I find it strange that they would target my site for porn comments! Fortunately, I can not approve them and delete them before my trusted readers see that stuff.

Hi Karin.
Yes it’s a real problem but take a few minutes to read the text of the comments and then make a list of target words to block. Usually you can find words that occur frequently in these comments which won’t affect regular comments by blocking them.
Cheers
Dave
Thank you, Dave!
