Don't Fall Off The Tightrope

Hello Everyone

So it's been another week of mainly bad news in the world and sadly it seems to have been a week of bad news here at WA too.

I am saddened that some fine members of WA have felt the need to walk away from the community. They have individually set out their reasons and I am not going to rehash what you can simply read on their individual posts. WA will be a poorer place for the loss of each of them.

I am also saddened by some frankly quite distasteful blog posts (and comments) here in recent days. All I am prepared to say on this subject is that I didn't comment on any of them but I have started to use the "Unfollow" button a lot more recently.

I am not one to tell people what they can or can't blog about here. As a premium member you have paid your subscription and you are entitled to write about whatever you choose (barring politics and religion). The rest of us are free to make a choice to read it and comment if we want - or to just pass on by.

Unkind or critical comments made in public are simply a poor reflection on those who write them.

It is important that we don't allow WA to become a negative place due to the actions of a small minority of members who want to dictate.

The Tightrope

In 1978, Karl Wallenda - who was one of the world's most famous tightrope walkers performed his final and ultimately fatal tightrope walk between 2 hotel towers in Puerto Rico. Halfway across he could be seen struggling and he fell 10 stories to his death.

Why did a man who had successfully completed the same stunt hundreds of times previously come to such a tragic end?

Some time after the accident his wife gave some insight into what happened. She said "All Karl thought about for three months prior to it was falling. It seemed to me he put all his energies into 'not falling', rather than walking the tightrope."

Don't Fall!

As entrepreneurs building a business we will come across many problems along the way. I am currently trying to figure out why I can't get any videos to upload to my YouTube channel. I have discovered a temporary fix by transferring the video onto my laptop and uploading it from there. I just need to work out why they suddenly won't upload from my PC.

It would be easy to just give up and focus on something else instead but I would rather find a solution than let this beat me.

Problems are inevitable but if all you ever think about is what might go wrong rather than what you might achieve then you will never overcome them.

Despite all the bad news we face every day at the minute, and all the negative stuff that has happened here recently, let's try to stay upbeat and work hard to make a success of the businesses we want to create.

Isn't that why you joined WA after all?

Best wishes

Dave

Hi Dave I think positivity is definitely be what people here should be role-modelling, whilst supporting each other. There is surely too much negativity everywhere else in the world and this has always seemed a caring work environment. We have so much to be grateful for at WA, Sue 😊

Hi Sue
Yes I agree completely with you.
Either the negative stuff has died out a bit this week - or maybe it's just that I am spending less time here.
Time to focus on making the business work and staying positive with positive people.

Thanks
Dave

Some people who are not very intelligent prefer to waste their time spreading hatred rather than focusing on the essentials and moving forward with harmony and brotherhood. Leave these people behind us because they will eventually go away on their own. Times are pretty hard right now, so let's focus on the positive that we can find here and luckily there is a lot of positive in WA.

Hi Ingrid
Yes, sometimes the negative people and haters come to the fore and cause real damage - as we saw recently.
Trying to stay positive has never been more important.

Cheers
Dave

i never knew that,
So the man thought so hard about NOT FALLING rather than KEEP UPRIGHT he actually (in a way) wrote his own downfall.

I see what you are doing here...

so many ways to look at the tightrope walker, failing or succeeding, dying or living, disappearing up your own backside or breaking free.... my how you have made me think........, quite the philosopher, very clever.

I liked your post, I like the positive view, I like how you reminded us that changing our mindset from fear based anxiety to optimism can also alter the outcome of those around you.

PS Thank you (Bond) :)

xx

Hi Cordelia

Thanks for bringing a ray of sunshine to my day!

I'm glad you appreciated the analogy with the tightrope walker. Hopefully our business wont ever pose life or death issues for us but there are definitely struggles to be overcome. Lets face them with optimism and determination to succeed!

Have a great day!

Through my own eyes, being negative as oppose to positive is a choice. True, that sometimes situations make it harder than normal. Unfortunately it seems there are those that thrive on creating those circumstances.
Now that the damage has been done and decent people have been hurt, it would seem that the instigators have slinked back to wherever they came from.
All that aside, despite current events, both globally and here, we have plenty to be grateful for. Not least, the incredible resources we have at hand.
As we know, there is no better time to act, than now.

It all seemed very unnecessary to me. The fact that decent people got hurt is a total shame and it bothers me.
However what's done is done so we need to focus on grabbing the opportunity we have and making the most of it.

Stay safe and good luck
Dave

You too Dave.

Dave, that opening picture had my hands sweating ! I was disappointed to read that some have left the community. Now is surely the time to engage more. I myself have been ignoring the untasteful blogs - not being an ostrich but there are plenty of bad news stories. Twitter is pretty depressiong. WA typically gives me a real BOOST!

You are absolutely right, but with WA we are so lucky. Our work continues and our opportunites are growing. I just wish I had more time in the day for WA.

Yes we can succeed with WA. I know I am.

Have a great day.

Hi Trevor
Yes it has been sad to see some of the genuinely decent WA members feel like they no longer belong here.
Good call on ignoring the crap blogs - you haven't missed anything.
I agree about there being plenty of bad news elsewhere - lets hope WA returns to normal soon.

Let's make the most of the opportunity it gives us
