You may not make any money with WA but.
I may not have made a fortune from WA or spent hours and hours on here but another post on the site by Amy https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/amyr2017/blog/my-son-is-tell... prompted me into writing this so here goes.
The reality of WA is that not everyone will make a tonne of money from it. However, that’s not to say it isn’t worth every penny of what we pay.
I have been signing up to various online ventures over the years and every time I mentioned this to friends/family they all had an opinion - usually a negative one. Their opinion was not based on any experience or knowledge but just on the fact that they didn't understand the concept of what I was trying to achieve.
I have since found that your friends and family are the last people that are really on your side in the early days. Even if you have a fantastic idea they will find reasons for its failure - the real reason being that they are the failures and others failing gives them a sense of satisfaction.
Generally speaking I now make a conscious decision to just stay away from moaners, whingers and Negative Nellies.
So what was I trying to achieve?
For me I wanted to learn as much as I could about working online and creating an income this way. I didn't see it as a waste of money but a more a monthly amount I was prepared to spend without causing any financial difficulty. While others were out every week blowing a load of money on drinking, partying, new clothes, and latest gadgets, my money was being invested in myself. Yes, I still had a life but I also had a plan.
I have spent a small fortune on various courses and training and learnt a little from each one. So for me it wasn’t a waste of money but a step in the right direction. I signed up to a lot of over-hyped courses but took the best bits and moved on. I began to understand the process of these offers – offer a free something and then upsell and upsell and upsell.
I stuck with the genuine ones and asked as many questions as I could think of. The genuine guys always answered.
And what have I achieved?
The truth of the matter is that WA has only provided me with a nominal return to date. Nowhere near what I was hoping for when I signed up. That said what I have learnt along the way, especially from this site, has been priceless. All the training, knowledge, skills and ‘failures’ have eventually led to me setting up my own part time website company last year which now provides an additional income for me.
The reason for being part time is that this was done alongside my own full time job and started off more as a hobby than a replacement job. It is also a saturated market which is why I try to pick and choose the work I do and when I do it. I also quite like my day job for now so this works out just fine.
More recently I have also launched a new project (again using what I have learned over the years) and hope this will take off over the next 12 months and when it does it should provide a decent return.
I also find that I now seem to constantly have new ideas coming to me and only through lack of time I can’t make a start on them. But they are in the pipeline.
My BIG downfall used to be my impatience. If I didn’t see immediate results I would move on. This has now changed and I am more prepared for the longer haul.
So what am I actually saying?
Well, I’m saying that if WA provides you with a huge income then great. But if it doesn’t then always keep your options open. Be prepared to use what you have learnt and try new avenues. Each time you try and fail, take the positives from it and try again. Eventually it will fall into place.
Whatever you start give yourself a minimum of 6 months, ideally twelve. Don’t just stick with Affiliate marketing but keep that as one of the strings in your bow. Look to see what else you can do with your new found skills.
If you ever feel disheartened don’t worry, just go with it. Even enjoy feeling ‘low’ for a while. Because you just know at some point you’ll come out again so may as well ride it instead of fighting it.
If just one person reading this take something positive from it then it was worth writing J
Some of my all-time favourite quotes are by Thomas Edison:
I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work
Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up
