It's OK to be Disappointed It's Not OK to be Discouraged

As we step into the New year 2022, let me give you some words of encouragement. My words of encouragement to you are, “ It’s Ok to be disappointed; It’s just not OK to be discouraged”. This is not the time to give up. It is a time to forge ahead and realize your dream of building a sustainable business and earning recurring passive income.

Just as in any enterprise, there are several things on the Wealthy Affiliate platform that can cause you some amount of disappointment.

Timing is the biggie! You have been chipping away at this thing for close to one year, yet there is no end in sight. You want to know when the moolah will start rolling in. How soon will you get your check or commission? The reality is in stark contrast to what the fake gurus promised you. They told you the money pump in Affiliate Marketing is on autopilot! You don't need to raise a finger to trigger it! You now know better.

Writing does not come easy to you. I get that. But it hardly comes easily to anybody. You wrote a post and you were not happy with the way it turned out. For that reason, you have refused to write another one. You even felt worse when you compared it to the posts of other established bloggers who have taken the time and pain to perfect their writing styles.

Your website is set up and your posts are ranking in Google and bringing in the much-needed traffic in your niche. For some reason you are yet to find out, the traffic is just not converting. That could be a reason for disappointment.

On the other hand, maybe the traffic is converting and bringing in a trickle of income. You are not happy because you want a bigger stream of income. That could be ground for disappointment.

While disappointment is inevitable in this business, discouragement is a choice. Even Kyle and Carson had their own fair share of disappointments when they were starting out. Their heightened expectations must have been dashed a couple of times. They just refused to be discouraged. They forged ahead and refused to allow a blip in the road to obscure their vision of Wealthy Affiliate.

You don’t want to be like that miner in the days of the gold rush. He had spent so much energy digging for gold. He even got his relatives to invest in machinery to help him find the gold he was searching for. After putting in so much effort, he got discouraged and sold his machinery to a junk man for a pittance. The junk man employed the services of a mining engineer who calculated that the gold vein was just three feet from where the miner left! What a loss! All because of discouragement.

You may have come closer to reaching your dream of building your affiliate marketing business than you realize. Don’t let the bump in your journey discourage you. It can be fixed. That’s why you have the WA community. When you hit a bump on this journey, they are ready to give you a hand. Hang in there. Help is on the way. Just remember to ask for it.

Finally, I urge you to let the qualities of patience, persistence, and perseverance ( the 3 P’s ) be the lodestar that will lead you to the much-desired success in your business as we enter 2022.
