My Fasting Update

Ok, so it has been a while since I last updated this blog. I have been busy working on the online business and all things home. I am currently retired from the military and I am the stay at home dad. Yes, I am the one that cooks, cleans and ensures all projects get done before everyone gets home.

Anyway, I started my fast at 256 lbs and I currently weigh 250 pounds and this has taken me about a month to accomplish. It was difficult in the beginning to start fasting but now I begin to get hungry when it is almost time to eat.

The fast that I started with was the 16:8 hours fast which basically means that you are eating for 8 hours and fasting for 16 hours. This fast took me about 2 weeks to get use to because I was starting to eat at 12pm and I would stop to eat by 8pm. It is not as hard as you may think and the body really does adapt remarkably fast.

At the same time that I was fasting I was working out also, the problem was that I was primarily doing strength training. This is not usually a problem but my body can really put on the muscle weight quickly and it did 12 pounds of muscle not bad if you are looking to get big, bad if you are trying to get lean.

I switched my routine and did cardio and my body fat began to decrease as well as my body weight. This in turn made me feel lighter and better equipped to handle the everyday stresses of life.

And now I am feeling better and have begun to lose weight because I also had to incorporate three 24 hours fast during the week and this has helped me lose 2 pounds a week. So, my schedule is:

  1. Fast Sunday: 5pm-Monday 5pm
  2. Eat Monday 5pm-Monday 8pm
  3. Fast Monday 8pm-Tuesday 12pm
  4. Eat Tuesday 12pm-Tuesday 5pm
  5. Fast Tuesday 5pm-Wednesday 5pm
  6. Eat Wednesday 5pm-8pm
  7. Fast Wednesday 8pm-12pm Thursday
  8. Eat 12pm Thursday 5pm
  9. Fast Thursday 5pm-Friday 5pm
  10. Eat Friday 5pm- Friday 8pm
  11. Fast Friday 8pm-12pm Saturday
  12. Eat Saturday 12pm-8pm
  13. Fast Saturday 8pm-Sunday 5pm

This is my schedule as of today and it seems to be working and I will continue until I hit my desired weight. It is not perfect and sometimes on the weekend you go out and eat, but as long as you follow it and get back on track on Monday you are usually fine.

This is what works for me and everyone is different, so you will have to experiment what works for your body. And remember fasting does a lot more than just help you lose weight it also helps your body to repair itself at a cellular level.

Thanks,

JesusB

HI Jesus, glad to hear you are on the intermittent fasting program. I have been doing this now for about 2 years and I find that is is good to lose weight as well as maintain my weight. I am also on the 16:8 plan and I adjusted rather quickly to it. All the best.

Wayne

Thanks it seems to be working and I will continue it.

That's great to hear, Jesus.

Wayne

CONGRATS! Losing weight is a great feeling physically and mentally!

I am also dieting with low carbs and fasting. Down 82 lbs after 7mos and still have a ways to go yet. Loving the low carb strategy as I enjoy a lot of the food. The other cravings have passed as well.

Keep on and never give up!! As the WA saying goes.

Looking forward to your next update!

Ken

Wow!, 82 lbs that is great, keep it up you are doing awesome and I wish you all the best here at WA.

Great job!
I wish you to continue your great work
on yourself.

Have a bright day!
Ingrid

Thanks, I wish you a great day also.

Congratulations on your journey so far!
I’ve been seeing more information about intermittent fasting recently and most all of it is positive.
Wishing you continued success!

Thanks, I know I can do it.

I need to get back to intermittent fasting myself with bathing suit season fast approaching! Congrats on your success!!! Keep up the great work :)

Thanks, and now is the time to start.

I've done IF before and it does work. I think I'll begin the 16:8 now and see what happens. Its relatively easy for me to not eat in the morning until 1pm but stopping my snacking at 8pm is the problem.

Yes, it is a bit difficult but it can be done, just one step at a time.
Good luck,
JesusB

Intermittent fasting is first rate. As a Wellness Consultant, I could not recommend it enough. Maybe a juice-based fast for a week to really detox by kicking toxins into touch and then follow up with intermittent fasting. Should begin to shift the weight.
Alister

If you are a diabetic and the juice fast is not good, what can I replace it with? A broth fast?

Good advise.
JesusB

No juice fast not good for diabetics. Should focus on vegetables and not fruit anyway. Suggest plant based foods instead. Raw would be good.

Thanks, I like my bulletproof coffee with heavy cream too and real butter too.

Have a good mindset and keep up the good work. You can achieve your goal. All the best.

Thank you,
JesusB

Go Keto. It is so much easier and faster. I recommend it to all my clients and all lose weight without fasting.

I tried Keto but it is a lot of work to do and it is time consuming.

Have been considering this myself but am worried about how I will react emotionally

Hello Serenity, Take the plunge it is awesome and you will feel better. I recommend you start by just skipping breakfast and stop eating by 8 pm, If you do this one simple thing you will be fasting for 16 hours. Try this for two weeks and see how you feel.
Good luck,
JesusB

Wow that’s a great idea thanks I could do that for sure

Good luck
