Do It To It
Years ago, I worked as an engineering technician for a gentleman that owned a water company and a civil engineering firm. He specialized in hydrology engineering and designing water systems. I was his hand drafter before the age of computer drafting.
He had a ritual every morning when he came to work. I would see him take out his legal-style yellow pad and write "Do It to It" as his heading. He would write everything he wanted to accomplish during the day. If there was anything left to do at the end of the day, he would simply write those tasks on the next day's list. I use this method occasionally from time to time when I want to get things done.
The Journey
When I started this journey, I researched and tried many programs of affiliate marketing platforms before discovering Wealthy Affiliates. I have come to realize that the teachings here are what I always needed. The simplistic method of teaching here has provided me with a better understanding of what I was doing.
I have managed to put together a product that I think is going to provide me the financial benefits in the near future. I also know that I can create more websites that interest me and make me money. I think the biggest hurdle I had to overcome during this journey so far, was learning how to navigate WordPress. It has been a real challenge. Working with blocks was a new concept for me. In the past, it was always about HTML coding when I tried to develop websites. But I got past the issues and am now comfortable with creating a website using the block method.
The Niche
The niche I decided to create has a music-related theme. I know there are other more profitable niches that I could have gone with, but I chose this one at the beginning to "get my feet wet". It is something I am familiar with. Once I start seeing some profit coming in with this first website, I will begin to create something else.
Three Months Down the Road
In the next 3 months, I hope to accomplish some indication that all this work I am doing will generate income. After all, isn't that what this is all about? I want to fine-tune my website so that it is clean and fast for the user. I intend to learn the fine points of generating traffic. Trusting the process is my first priority.
Six Months Down the Road
In six months, I hope to have a clear understanding of what I'm doing. I will have started another website by using the methods I have learned here at Wealthy Affiliates. I want to introduce this platform to some of my family. I have grandkids that are getting ready to enter into the grownup world of making income. This is something that I believe will be an advantage for them to learn.
Conclusion
Being retired has its advantages. I can use my time to build upon this however I see fit. I am not time-constrained as those that work are. Kudos to those of you that work while also learning and building this business idea. My hat is off to you!
