Wordpress, I hate you!

I am slowly getting there with www.SurvivorChap.com... However I reckon around 20% of my time is wasted messing around with Wordpress and it's silly little nuances. I can type out a new post in short order and actually enjoy typing away, but then I have to put it into Wordpress.

There has to be a more efficient way to do things than how I am doing things at present, I will have a look and let you you know if I find any solutions.

Wordpress aside I am happy with what is going into my site and the feedback has all been positive so far; lets hope that continues. I wont let Wordpress beat me as I need this website to work, so here is to the future... Hopefully without Wordpress :-)

WordPress is high among Web tools. The only way to shortcut is to leave the web altogether and write articles directly to a publisher rather than blogging

Yeah, WordPress is written to expect you to do things a certain way. ... and with the goal of protecting you from certain mistakes.

I find this annoying at times also.

With a little research and learning of the tool, it gets better - mostly.

I have bounced back and forth between authoring in WordPress directly and authoring in something else and then copying into WordPress. At the moment, I'm back to authoring right in WordPress.

There are other platforms you could use, but one benefit of using WordPress is that you can host at WA. Move to another platform and you lose that benefit. :-(

Things to weigh ...

I know what you mean as I tend to go through phases with these things so we will see what happens.

How do I edit directly in WP? it keeps asking me for a username and password by I have tried a few combinations with no luck :-(

If you are hosting at WA, you want to go to SiteRubix -> SiteManager and then find your site and click the Login Now button. It should take care of the login for you.

If you are hosting at WA and that does not work, you should contact support and they can fix it.

Good luck!

Advanced technology is supposed to make our lives easier, but it's doing the opposite of what we would expect.

Hello - having worked with computers since the mid 1970s I agree with what you say. As I watched the likes of Microsoft develop I could see the signs - they're overdoing the technology needed to do any job.

That is the computer age, isn't it. We literally waste almost one third of our lives "fighting" with one thing, or the other needed for this stupid computing. When we used to do things "by hand" we had a lot more time and especially when we were done, we were done!

Yes, but now once it works we can use the computer to do it 100000000 times for us...
Ok, solving problems asks some time, but, when you compare it with manualy writing..
How many copies of your site would you have to write before you reach every person you reach now?
Good luck, I suppose... ;-)

You are perfectly right of course! But then see it from my viewpoint. I "deal" in hammers and nails and ouches, you deal in pencils, paper and now computers. Where do the computers, pencils and paper come from? Not from people using them, right! These machines shorten the work time of the pencil pushers and give them capabilities never seen before but then they make it longer for us working stiffs to do our work because we have to constantly "update". The other thing! You would think that we have less pencil pushers now were they can do more work per person, right. Well, did we ever get fooled!

That's also true....

There is never been so much stress in our lives since the computer took over our pencil jobs...
And also the pencil people always have to "update" and by the time you know the new method, there is again "the update"... :-)

And it is also true: I only know places where they had to hire people because of computer systems and I never heard of a place where they had people and time left... :-)
(I speak about office environments and not about factories, where you do see those examples (social disaster))

But now we would go very philosophical... Is the computer an evolution or not for the human being?
(I stop here.... :- ) )

You hit the "nail" right on the head Bert! You should try that when keeping one eye closed! That is how I am doing it unwillingly!

:-)

Exactly.

Hello,

On this site you can find lots info, maybe it can make your life easier...
