Four “D” Words Necessary For Success-What I learned This Week
This week as I was working through some Wealthy Affiliate training classes, reading blogs and a book I discovered a common theme that is crucial for success. Four critical ingredients that without possessing all four we are doomed to fail. There are many other attributes we need to have but without these four the others will not matter. I believe these four ingredients are the glue that holds everything else together.
These four ingredients all start with the letter "D" and they are all equally important and equally necessary for success. Please read on and see if you agree.
1. DesireThis is the number one thing all successful people possess, it is a requirement if you want to have any hope of becoming a success. If there is no desire to succeed, then you will just be spinning your wheels and wandering aimlessly. A normal person desires many things in life such as a lovely home, a happy family, a decent car and good friends to name a few. But, if we really want to be successful in our new business we need to possess a burning desire that dominates our thinking.
Without a burning desire to succeed and achieve you will, more than likely, go about your new business as nothing more than a hobby. Working on it when it is convenient for you, or when you get around to it. A burning desire will cause you to obsess about it. It will always be on your mind and consume your thoughts. You will want to go out and make your desire a reality rather than waiting and hope things turn out something like you envision. If you are waiting for something to fall into place or just happen then you have no desire and you are just casting your fate to the wind.
I encourage you to take some time this week and look up some biographies of successful people and you will see that desire to succeed in a common trait or all these individuals. They all went out and made it happen! Not one of them became rich by accident.
2. Determination
Determination will cause us to steel our minds to pursue our desire. It will get us over the obstacles that we no doubt will encounter along the way. Determination will give us the strength and will power to do whatever is necessary to make our desire a reality. We will arise each morning ready to do the research, study the lesson, write the content or whatever we need to accomplish. Determination will cause us to keep moving forward. Determination will not allow us to accept failure as an option. It will not let us give up.
Many people who want to start a business, and do not possess the desire or have determination, will give up and quit at the first sign of trouble or disapointment. They are not determined, so after a few weeks or months of not seeing results, will simply give up and move on to something different. A determined individual, with a burning desire to succeed, will never give up. He will press on even of it takes years because of his desire to attain his goals. Failure is not an option to the determined person.
3. Decision
There are many decisions you will need to make and none of them can be taken lightly. The decisions you make will determine your success or your failure. Some decisions may not be absolutely critical but even a small wrong decision could set you back, costing some valuable time. When I was a builder we had a saying, "measure twice and cut once". That saying can be applied to your online business as well. Write down the pros and cons about a decision you are struggling with. When you see them in writing in front of you it will help you draw conclusions and hopefully guide you to the correct decision.
What is your niche? Is it too broad or is it too narrow? It needs to be broad enough for you to have plenty of topics and keywords to write about but not so broad that it will be difficult to rank high on Google. Not so narrow that there is not a way to monetize. What domain name will you use? How will you promote yourself? These are quite a few things you need to decide and I have only scratched the surface. You will be faced with decisions everyday and many will affect your destiny in some way.
4. Do - Just Do It!
DO as in DO IT! In other words you have to put the rubber to the road, knuckle down and like the Nike slogan says "Just Do It”. Make no provision for failure. Write down your goals. Create your plan. Begin putting this plan into action immediately. Ready or not just do it.
How much money do you want to make? Don't just say "I want more money", write down a specific amount. What are you going to give in return for this money you desire? Remember there is no such thing as "something for nothing". When do you want to have this money? What are you going to do with this money? And most important, what are you going to do to make this happen?
Make a schedule and stick to it, treat it like a job. Write out your plan in a clear concise manner and read it aloud several times a day and before you go to bed. Post it above your computer monitor and read it before you begin your work for the day.
Conclusion
In addition to writing, researching and completing some lessons I took some time this week to write out my goals and plans. I have a specific amount I want to make in a specific time frame. My plan is established and in my google calendar my minimum work hours are entered. I have things written down where some of the money I make will be used for. And I know what I will be giving back in return.
The more I read my plan aloud the more I can actually feel that these goals are already becoming a reality. I am not waiting for this to happen, I am taking steps and my plan is in action. I am going to make this happen!
Well do you agree? If so or even if not, I'd love to hear your comments.

Craig,
Of all the D's you mentioned in your post, I like the determination. I think if a person is determined enough to stick with it, they will eventually find success.
Lisa
Thanks for your comments Lisa. Determination is a key one for sure! Without it a person will give up easily.
