Singing With A Swollen Tongue!

I work the car loop at the end of each school day, bidding our small scholars adieu until the next morning, and getting them safely into their respective vehicles.

I also secure the area between a metal guard rail and the small opening which we use to get the kids to their cars, usually by extending my arms in order to discourage any of those intrepid souls who may have an inclination to wander into the restricted "yellow zone."

I was at my usual spot, #7, with several children who were awaiting their rides, when one young lady unexpectedly decided to make a somewhat acrobatic leap up to the bottom wrung of the guard rail, a definite no-no at our school.

Not only was she engaging in forbidden activity, but in the course of doing this, she also slammed the top of her head into my lower jaw, causing me to bite my tongue.

I first checked the condition of the little girl's head, and she seemed to be fine. Hard head, I guess.

I, on the other hand, had a suddenly throbbing jaw, and a bleeding and rapidly swelling tongue. (No stitches needed!)

Naturally, it was music night for my band, but I believe I did all right in my front man job, although my tongue felt like it was about twice its' normal size! (It's still sore today!)

Sometimes we just have to carry on, despite life's challenges.

Every day is an adventure of one sort or another. We might as well make the most of it!

Thanks, Abdul.

Ouch, that had to be painful!!!! Glad the little girl wasn't hurt. Yes, carrying on is what we have to do.

Kudos

Thanks, Tammy. It's been a few days, and my tongue is still sore. Guess I bit it pretty hard! :)

At least you didn't need stitches!!! that's a good thing. ;)) But how did you sing with swollen tongue?!?!?!?

happy School Year! I do understand the carry on regardless though! Take care, Rick :)

It should be interesting, Debbie! :)

Ouuch! #section 7,859,666 of Small Human's Curriculum Vitae... Make life as challenging, as often as possible, for Large Humans! Gotta love working with kids! Hope the rest of your week is less painful, Sue :)

Thanks, Sue! :)

I hear you. Always something......

It seems so, Pablo!

Oh Rick.. I am so sorry. Having to speak a lot during my work day, I understand how bad it can be.Hope you are getting better.:)))

Still sore tonight. I think I bit it pretty hard, Vera. :)))

How very bad.... Your working instrument- you could have gone on a sick leave...lol..Get better.:)))

Poor you Rick, I bet that was sore. Well done on still managing to sing. Xx

The show must go on, Cheryl! :)

Definitely Rick and you wouldn't let anyone down would you. xx

Ouch! I presume you don't do instrumentals or it would have been your fingers. Please get well quick Rick!

Thanks, Mike. We only have a couple of instrumentals. 99% of our songs involve me singing.

Well done for persevering! Life won't stop just because you hit a bump, it's a lesson I'm having to learn myself.

You're right, Matt!
