Getting out of your comfort zone

Life continues to challenge me and I thought maybe if I’m being challenged, other WA members are as well so I wanted to share something which I hope will lend some encouragement to the community of WA.
My goal of doing 10-20 hours a week on this site have been seriously pushed. It’s funny how your priorities change after working 9 hour days, walking the dogs, making dinner, putting kids to bed and then bam, it’s 9 ‘o’clock and you have to get up at 5am and do it all over again. Weekends are spent running around and catching up and yea, the weather has encouraged binge Netflix evenings.
What was I thinking when I signed up for this?
The goal was to be independent from a corporate job and it keeps nagging at me. So as I walked the dogs, emptied the dishwasher and folded the towels, I thought, “I’m so excited to be on this path and part of this great group so what’s stopping me, besides my priorities? Everything I need to be successful and free from my day to day grind is right here!
So what did I do? I put the towels away, turned to the computer and vowed to get through 2 lessons. I stared, and stared and could not think. I watched half of the video, got up, grabbed my Kindle and read a chapter of my current book instead. It was easier and besides, didn’t I deserve an hour of down time?
And then I read this sentence, “Life doesn’t start until you get out of your comfort zone.” It stopped me, literally. For two days I haven’t been able to get that sentence out of my mind and I realized how completely profound that one sentence was having on my life.
Comfort and being comfortable has taken over my life, little by little, I’ve lost some drive, some passion and a lot of ambition. Winter has settled permanently in my brain. The task of finishing level one has become HUGH!
So, to break out of my comfort zone, I have to shake it up, I have to push a few things aside so I can commit to my success. Fortunately, I have a very supportive spouse and together we are going to tackle the “elephant”.
My elephant is larger than any Doctor Seuss could think up. And it’s bright red! Staring at me with knowing eyes, eyebrows pinched and a frowning mouth saying “How long do you want to get up at 5am and go to that job you hate?”
Time to take the elephant down, one step at a time.
Ok, so how is this helping anyone? My little “ah hah” story?
It’s like this.
I am challenging everyone here facing the same issues I am around life, priorities and the comfortable routine which makes it sooo easy to stay stuck. Follow me and I will follow you and together, we can encourage each other through chat and get through each lesson, each step.
So here’s the list:

Today I will tackle the right toe of the elephant. I have written down one goal each day to move forward and making the elephant slowly disappear.

I will not get overwhelmed when I see other websites. They did not start out looking so professional, have so much content and “Likes and Pins”.

I will not question my niche, think been there done that. I am unique, have unique thoughts and am an expert at my niche so I don’t care if there are other sites with my niche. I can do it better.

I will not get overwhelmed with what I think is the amount of time, effort, lessons and content that needs to happen to be successful before I make my first sale. Instead, I will finish my daily goal and if I do more, good for me.

I will not over think each lesson. I will just finish them and do the exercises because this is a proven model that works. My community at WA is proof!

I will shut my office door from 8-9pm (or what ever time works) with a do not disturb sign starting, “Serious Education in Process, Freedom and Sales due out / / /.” Date it!
Repeat:“My comfort zone is being outsourced, downsized and my severance package is mine to make. I am taking back my ambition, passion and drive that my dummy job I go to everyday has taken away. I want my life out of the comfort zone because my freedom to hike on the gold road is out there, one step at a time.”

Well I think we all have elephants that block us from moving forward, I really don't know what color mine is. But anyways, this was such a good blog, I can't believe it has not received recognition yet. It seems like you poured your heart and soul into it, and I think you did a marvelous job. I absolutely agree with you on this, there are so many distractions out there that can be very inconspicuous at times, which will impede you from moving ahead of the game. I liked how you took those obstructions and completely knocked them down by saying that it was time for you to take initiative. Your right btw, you really shouldn't worry about what other people's progress is like too much, you should focus on your own self. This was a powerful blog, I'm sure that you will come a long way here at WA, you seem like a talented writer already. NEVER GIVE UP! KEEP UP THE FIGHT! YOU WILL SUCCEES! :) Best wishes

Thank you floridajf! I have done some writing in the past hence the reason to become a blogger. I hope I can inspire others to stay on track as well and not get discouraged. I just wanted to make sure I did my blog right so all can see it.
There really is no wrong way of writing a blog here at WA, as long as you get you message across it is fine in my opinion :) However, you do want to make sure that you don't promote anything. I don't know if you've read the Spam is a NO NO! blog, but it is really helpful and will help you understand the Terms of Service here at WA. I'm not saying that you violated any of these rules, I'm just trying to be helpful here :) Good luck :D
