Website redesign is an investment in your future. It is simply an updating of your websites branding, graphics, values, and missions while perhaps adding additional media and services. Updating or redesigning your website simply helps you gain more customers, visitors or fans.

So, why should you consider having your website redesigned? Here are ten perfect reasons.

1 – Are you getting the results you want?

Your website looks great, it works, and is functional which is fine, but is it bringing you the results you want? You should be using your website as a way to continually ADD to your customer base – is your data backing this up? If you are not happy with the results it is time to consider redesigning your website. Look at your site’s visitor-to-lead conversion rate this is the most important indicator which can provide you with a clear idea of what needs to be adjusted. Ask yourself

·Does my site look too text-heavy, is there too much technical *speak*

·Does my *call to action* convert visitors into customers?

·Are my landing pages inspiring people to stay and look through my site?

·Does my site match my company’s voice – am I reaching my target audience?

2 – First impressions DO count.

You need to create – or improve your brand awareness and this can be achieved by using eye-catching designs. This is what people will remember long after they have left your website. By using the very latest graphical technologies your website will be more memorable and look visually appealing. An outdated, unprofessional or amateurish looking website lacks credibility and will turn customers away. Having a professionally designed website will give you that edge over your competition – especially those with outdated content and branding.

3 – Has the purpose of your site changed?

If you are like most website owners your marketing strategy is relatively fluid and keeps up with changes, so while you don’t need to redesign your entire website each time you change marketing strategy it’s a good idea to just make sure your website and your marketing goals are still *on the same page*. Ask yourself:

·How often am I modifying my marketing strategy?

·Do marketing strategy changes reflect in sales?

If you haven’t changed your marketing strategy in a while it might not be your website that’s the problem! If the purpose for your site HAS changed an update might be just what you need. If you haven’t already adding a *how to* or *blog posts*page will bring new readers to your site, and if they like what you have to offer they will come back often.

4 – Great design means more exposure.

Redesigning your website – or having it redesigned professionally allows you to share your website around the world showcasing your business, product or talent to audiences who would never have seen or heard of you before. This brings you more traffic and potential clients or customers. A website that has great content, gorgeous design and one that is modern and up to date will attract visitors from all around the world as well as via word of mouth from customers, family and friends, with a site that looks great, is regularly updated and is easy to use, you’ll have an inspiring website people will love to visit and use.

5 – Your website just doesn’t seem to be working.

This IS pretty obvious you’ve probably been to websites yourself that are outdated or dysfunctional, while your site probably isn’t that bad – it still might not be as *user friendly* as it could be. There are elements on any site that aren’t working and you may not realise this is actually making your site less effective.

A functional site should be your main priority – if it’s not your leads and traffic will suffer. How do you know what’s wrong? Look at your site and answer these questions:

·Is my sites navigation confusing?

·Is the important content easy to find?

·Can a visitor find the simple items on my site like my contact details?

·Are my services or products (and prices) up to date?

6 - A modern site with professional design leads to ease of navigation.

Your website needs to be not only engaging and attractive but easy to use, easy to navigate and makes best use of the latest technology. A clean and modern website is designed to make it easy for the viewer to find what they want, while showcasing your talents, products or services. By using *calls-to-action*, great content and attractive imagery you are inviting the visitor to learn more about you – this in turn will keep them interested in exploring your website. Great layout and design makes it easy for them to find what they are looking for, this solves any *Usability issues* which will increase the rate of return traffic to your site

Website redesign will bring your online presence up to date to the latest web-standards which will make your site viewable on different browsers, smart phones and tablet operating systems.

7 – Your Content is out of date

We’ve all gone to a website that is still promoting something that happened last year, which makes you wonder – when did they last update the site? And is the information listed correct? Do you bother staying around? Do you trust anything you find on the site? If your site has this look and feel, it’s time to make changes.

Consider adding a blog page to your site, you can update this regularly (most sites update at least 3 times a week), this means a visitors see’s content that is only 2 -3 days *old* not weeks or months old. You can employ a freelance blog writer to provide content for you if you are not up to the task yourself. This will keep your listings up to date and provides additional information for your visitor to read. If they like what you have to say they will often follow your blog regularly which leads to a constant flow of traffic and higher Google rankings.

8 – Website redesign will increase you position on search engines.

By adding new pages, a blog, links and titles helps search engines find you – this in turn ensures your content is visible on the Internet. A website redesign updates your website code to the very latest standards which makes it easier to read – this leads to an increase in your visibility. Using SEO will also help bring your website to the top of the Google rankings – you can do this by either requesting a SEO plug-in be installed in the backend of your new Word press website (Blog) or by hiring a professional SEO technician. By adding fresh content and new SEO keywords this will increase the visibility and effectiveness of your online presence.

9 – Have your competitors changed their site?

While you can’t redesign your website every time a competitor changes theirs, if they DO make changes that improve their rankings – it’s time for you to make some changes too. Spend some time browsing their site – does it meet your goals better than your site does? If so, make those changes now, being top of the search list should NOT be your only goal but if your competitor is keeping you out of the rankings consider what SEO changes you can make to your site. Your website is there to bring you business, if it’s not then you need to find out WHY and make the necessary changes.

10 – 7 extra reasons to consider having your website redesigned.

1.To remove any out of date information and have only relevant information on your site.

2.To make your website load faster

3.To show everyone you are committed to your product or service in exciting and new ways

4.To add new features to your site that perhaps weren’t first available when your website was originally designed.

5.To show that you are fresh, modern and can keep up with the times.

6.To start new conversations with your local community and customers

7.To integrate everything new into your site – images, a blog, social media interfaces and video galleries.

A great, well written piece Jasmine. Thank-you (I have liked it on facebook as well)

Thank you :)

Hi Colleen,

This is a very important posting for todays entrepreneur.
I will be doing some upcoming posts that I may link back to this one if you don't mind. I am very surprised that there are only a few comments here, though can offer two reasons I can think of.

One, people do not necessarily know what is good for them even if you spell it out to them (not much you can do about this except make your content more visually appealing & well laid out - which you have).

Two, this post lies in between a post size (300 - 500 words - just a rule of thumb for skimmer concentration spans - think ADHD), & a training upload (which you cannot do until you have been at WA as a premium member for 3 months). If I could suggest - 3 (?) parts would have been better bite sizes.

I certainly got today's value for money on this page!!!
Respect.

good to refer back to and as an evaluation tool...I would suggest that we can use one another here to ask specific questions of, about our sites. Thanks for this, Andy

Good advise! always keep updated in this fast and modern world! I agree :)
