Looking Out For The People

Some interesting points were raised in relation to the previous blog on Liberatus beating the best poker players.

Last night I was reflecting on the rapid development of AI; but we must admit there are pros and cons.

One thing I have observed that whenever the statistics on jobs are announced, we either hear people have stopped looking for jobs, or there are more unfilled jobs than jobs lost, Why is that?

AI has offered up many new jobs, but no one is looking out for the people, there is no agency that I know of that has identified the new jobs or offered training to fill these new jobs.

Maybe there is a watchdog organization that is predicting and identifying the new jobs and offering or asking the learning institutions to offer the necessary education and training for these new jobs.

The above was written last week.

During the last nights airing of 60 Minutes, it was suggested that 40% of all jobs will be replaceable by AI.

No mention was made of what percentage of new jobs will be created, or what training will be needed in order to fill those new jobs.

Who cares about the people?

You cannot stop progress, but progress should be in the interest of the people.

Money over people rule the day.

Think of your children and grand children.

Share your thoughts.

Good Morning Courtney,

Al does not need clean air to breathe and he would not worry about plastic pollution. The African heat wave would not bother him. Neither will he be affected by 5G, the rest is not difficult to imagine.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Greetings from drought ridden Anguilla, I wish New Orleans would send us some rain, Maybe that is why AI is rushing head on, we might not be strong enough to work and only the bosses need to be around. Why are we being so hard headed.Enjoy your day

It worries me that the day will come soon when AI will create jobs for themselves. Jim

There might not be anybody left to consume the products. AI is good and very bad. we need to take stock.

Hi Derek
There is actually several AI programmes that write blogs. However, so far none have impressed me. Oh well...I'll have to do it myself. Jim

They will get better soon.

That's true, opportunities created should address the need of the people, it should help alleviate their employment and economic situation.

Maybe we will become people of leisure and enjoy a basic wage, paid for by the robots.

Robots cannot take all human tasks, they are just made for specific roles. In agriculture, there are machines made for harvesting. it may somehow help in lessening expenses of the field owner but no more labor for other farmers. But it doesn't mean that the government will not think of employment because there are hundreds of thousands or even millions of people looking for jobs every year.

But can AI write my blog for me Courtney. It may be able to think but can it think the way I do?

Derek

See if you can find the 60 minutes episode for last night, You would be shocked what the Chinese are capable of doing with AI. It is scary to say the least. Send me some feedback after you have watched the broadcast.

Bit scary huh?

Very scary indeed. I assume you watched the broadcast.
