A principal of fairness
The motto of my high school offered me great motivation as a young man and still does.
i started my first business at the age of 26 and adopted another motto which I live by to this day-" Always place the shoe on the other foot" this has helped me on many an occasion when there were important decisions to be made in business and everyday life,It has helped me here at wa in approving or disapproving comments and feedback.
Do you have a motto for making important decisions or when dealing with others?

I know the retail business uses that motto; but I have seen customers display very rude behaviour that was hard to stomach; especially in the Hotel and restaurant business.
So true, Courtney, I have personally experienced it! That is why I said our motto HAD to be not that we felt they were always right :))
A friend of mine had to call the police for a customer who accused the hotel of theft of his watch and refused to pay his bill; the wife and manager was ready to let it go.No one was allowed to enter the room until the police arrived The police found the watch hanging on the door of the bathroom and the customer did not even had the decency to apologize.
My motto which I started to put into effect lately is the 5-second rule. Whatever decision you want to make on any matter, follow what comes to mind within the first 5 seconds. Thank you for posting.
How has that worked for you so far,;If i was using that as my motto I would have offended a lot of customers, like the ones who tested my patience.
Yes, I had a motto when I worked as a school principal.
My motto was "All decisions will be made based on what is best for the students."
Working with a large staff means that you have a huge variety of needs, wants and ideas. To make sure our focus was clear, I stood by my motto.
Having a clear focus eliminates the personal and individual desires from re-routing your course of action.
Thank you for sharing your motto.
All the best to you.
Susan
A little more complicated but whatever works one must follow; that way you will not have to question your decisions.
Did you read about the break in the introduced salmon fish farm nets letting potential frankenfish salmon out where wild salmon stocks are up in the straight where Kyle lives yesterday Courtney? Appalling!
