Not yet a Rescue Diver but look who I saved from drowning today :)
Hello everybody!
So I watched the video for Premium member and Kyle said in the video I was freaking awesome!... which I believe, no doubt :)
So instead of talking of my premium membership and say what a thousand of other people said about the awesome community, I'm gonna share a little bit of my life and what makes me happy (this is gonna be a first slice of what's gonna be in my- future to be- blog, so do not hesitate to let me know what you think)
Today, I started my Rescue Diver Course. For those who read my profile, I'm traveling quiet a bit. Been overseas 6 years out of 8 - Working too though - I do travel on a budget but not ready yet (or should I say anymore?) to sleep in a hammock, go dumpster diving for food and hitchhike all the time...
Anyway, I am in Thailand right now, after a year and a half of traveling around South East Asia and moving every 3 days, I needed to find a place where to put my backpack in a corner and not touch it for a while... So, not very original choice, I chose an island... and to keep me busy I decided to go further with my diving skills so I did a few dives and saw my very first whale shark... That was awesome!!! These creatures are so beautiful... If I didn't have my regulator in the mouth to keep me breathing, I would have been standing there open-mouthed.. and probably dead by now :) But that's not what I want to talk about... Yeah, I tend to talk a lot when I start...
Let's get to the point: I started my Rescue Diver Course today, which went all right, and going back home, I clean my swimsuit and towel and I see something weird... and what was it? This little guy! Mini gecko!!! So cute! He's fortunate I saw him otherwise he would have swallowed a lot more of washing powder... Poor little guy! he just stood there on my hand, waiting to get dry...
So, this is what makes me happy! Little small things. This is why I love my life. I might not be rich and I might always be watching how much money I spend, but I don't care, at least I'm free.
Today, I saved this mini gecko's life and to thank me he shared some time with me and allowed me to take a picture free of rights, he said so. And I want to share this cute moment with you guys because hopefully it's gonna make you smile. That's my thank you for being so supportive and welcoming :)
For those who hate me right now for having such a wonderful time, the downside is: mosquitos!!! They are driving me craaaazy... so I'm trying to tell myself: "I must be a sweet girl", "I must be a very sweet girl" for them to like so much...but I still hate those suckers who gave me Dengue Fever ;) - Might do another post about that -

I love watching geckos. Mosquitoes freak me out - As soon as it gets dark I disappear under a mosquito net with insect killer spray and my eyes fixated on the small hole in the net. Still I suppose I could put up with them if I was having a lifestyle like yours..
Sadly last week, there was a diving accident here. (Aliwal Shoal Natal South Africa) The girl, for some reason came up too fast. Her partner in an effort to help also came up too fast and both lost their lives. Both were expert divers. Still awaiting investigation result.
On happier note we are inundated with Gecko's here. There is one who has for the last month, positioned himself directly on ceiling above me at night. I guess my warm air warms him (winter here) and he in turn catches the mosquitoes, before they get to me!

Hey Coco.Your story is great and I too went diving in Thailand about ten years ago,we went to the Island of Pattaya which is not the most ideal place;apparently Phuket is supposed to be good for diving.The day I went the visibility was not great and I was doing my advanced open water diver,I did pass it but to be honest I thought the waters would have been nicer than Cyprus;that is where I passed open water diver.I thoroughly enjoyed it,s a whole new world.
I think you are extremely brave to back pack Im not sure I would do that after reading "The Beach",well maybe in my younger days.
You must have quite a lot of qualifications in your diving because I do know that is quite far.Are you going for diving instructor.
Ah visibility! you never know what you're gonna get... I heard they have some pretty good dive sites around Phuket but I think you have to go on a live aboard boat for 2 or more days cause it's pretty far (at least the ones I'm interested in). I don't know about instructor, but I'll definitely do a dive master and see where it leads me :)

You Rock! I have my dive certification and dive in the Florida keys a lot. Breathtaking, when diving you are in another world. I'm a photographer and travel a lot too, Thats living! They say, some people know how to make a living but other people know how make a life! You seem to fall in the latter. You have the right idea, Keep loving life!
