Want to Learn? Then Teach It! | An Unforseen Benefit From Blogging
One of my niches is the Health and Wellness niche.
As I started blogging on various topics, for me at least, I began to drill down into rabbit holes which became narrower and narrower. As an example of what I mean, I did a post where the outline generator here at WA contained a heading that mentioned the importance of belonging to a community as a contributor to one's sense of individual wellness. So the thought occurred to me to dig a little deeper and find out why that is so.
Long story short, that investigation led me to a topic that I wouldn't have thought of on my own. The topic was an exploration of the concept of 'community wellness'. In short, the concept just refers to the wellness of the community as a whole. I ended up doing a whole post on the topic of 'community wellness'.
I have also done posts on the importance of mindfulness and meditation as natural ways to combat stress. Once again, the dive into that area led me to yet another area that I had no idea existed. As it turns out, we know acupuncture is an ancient way to deal with ailments that can result from energy blockages. Well, there is a new technique that was developed in the 1990's that is based on the principles that underlie acupuncture.
That technique is called the Emotional Freedom Technique and, basically, the concept is based on tapping with the fingers the same meridians as in acupuncture. A therapist can perform the exercise but the patient can also be taught how to do this in the comfort of their own home! The technique has been used successfully in treating various emotional imbalances. Anyway, my point is this. On this blogging journey I don't think I have ever learned so much in such a short period of time!
In seeking to provide my audience with helpful information, the reality is that I am benefitting perhaps more than any of my readers! I have heard it said that, if you want to learn something then teach it to someone else. I have found that is undoubtedly true!
I also think that this discovery, for me at least, points to the importance of selecting a niche that really turns your crank! If you are interested in an area, you are more likely to pursue it with vigor and enthusiasm and, in so doing, you will be of much greater value to your audience than otherwise might be the case!
I also think that this points to the value of being exceedingly thorough in your research. Being thorough, you will discover areas that focus much more narrowly on your subject matter and, in so doing, the content that flows from that focus is not going to face as much competition from others in the same niche.
For those who are new, by all means choose a niche that resonates with you. You will discover that there are numerous benefits in so doing. You will be more likely to go down those narrow rabbit holes and, in so doing, you will forge an expertise in your area that will result in benefits you might not have anticipated.

It’s so true, Grant. We never know what is still to learn. EFT is quite fascinating, too! Thanks for the share.

I have had that happen a couple of times too, Grant. There are definitely treasures when blogging that we sometimes stumble into!

Have you had any experience with NLP - Neuro Linguistic Programming?
If not, might be worth looking into. Powerful stuff.

I learn so much when revising my notes before teaching a new group of electricians and engineers. It makes you learn.
Every day is a school day when you teach something.
