Another Episode of "Up Close and Personal"
Hey there WA Army! Hard to believe we're already into April and hoping everyone is having an awesome start to their year! Today, I thought I'd do another one of my 'up close and personal' posts.
All of us are focused on our businesses, promotion, marketing, analytics, content and so on and so on. For me, social media is a big part of how I promote, well, me! And in today's post I'm going to share with you, once again, what I found on social media that may well benefit you and how you promote your brand and your business.
A few years ago, I stumbled upon a revelation that, quite frankly, shocked me. Like most people starting out, most of the content I shared on social media was about the products and services I was promoting at the time. In doing so, I would often look at how others structured their marketing campaigns. I stumbled upon a social media post by another entrepreneur that came as a surprise.
I have now forgotten precisely what the post was about but it had to do with something about them personally. It was either a post about a recent family vacation, an accomplishment one of his children had recently achieved or the antics of a family pet. What I noticed that was particularly striking was the number of impressions the post attracted. So, observing this, I decided that I was going to do the same thing. I decided I would post something about me, something up close and personal.
I have also forgotten precisely what I posted but I love bragging about my dogs. What I discovered was that, just like the example posted by the other fellow, the post attracted a ton of impressions, 'likes' and comments. And that realization marked a turning point for me. I already knew that business was about building relationships and I quickly realized that, what better way was there to build relationships than to share something with your audience that was personal. You know, let people know who you are, what your interests are, what do you do in your spare time! People do business with people! And, in my experience, the better your connection with your audience, well, the more success you're going to achieve!
The pic at the top of this post shows one of our raised gardens taken last summer. My wife and I have a little one-acre slice of the Garden of Eden out here on Canada's east coast and gardening is something we do in a big-time way. As a matter of fact, we're getting close to food self-sufficiency. Yes it's a very physical life-style but growing your own is extraordinarily rewarding and, for me, I'm in better physical shape than I have been in decades! The handsome boy in the image above is my boy Elijah. I have always been a dog lover but Elijah is the best boy I have ever had!
So that's all for today and I hope you have enjoyed this little tid-bit of another one of my 'up close and personal' posts. If you like what you see, why not give it a try. Let people know a little bit about you. You might be very pleasantly surprised by the reactions you receive!

Hello Coach Grant,
Nice to hear from you :)
I agree making posts personal is a nice way to interact online.
Glad you and your wife are doing well.
Kind regards
Erica
Totally agree with you here Grant! There is nothing better than showing our human side and getting away from the robotic thinking all this use of Al is producing these days!!
Take care partner and keep on living the dream!!! :-)
