Hope Floats

This world is certainly in a quandary, isn't it? We're isolated and alone, watching economies collapse all over the world while it feels like our own personal universes are falling to pieces around us.

My parents are in an assisted living facility in Florida that is in total lock down. No one in, no one out. They're both terminally ill and we don't know if we'ill ever see them in person again.

My nephews wife and 2 year old son are trapped in China. They have been there for 4 months and have no idea when they'll be able to come home. The nephew has fled NYC and is self quarantined in his (former) bedroom at his mothers home in Maine.

Another nephew is in Vietnam. He could (probably) leave but underlying health issues make it unsafe for him to travel so he stays in his apartment halfway across the world and hopes for the best.

My sister is a nurse who lives in (the epicenter of) Seattle and works for the research company that has developed the rapid response test for COVID 19. All those people who died in that nursing home? Right down the street.

My daughter, who also has underlying health conditions, takes her life in her hands every day that she reports to her "essential" job.

My story isn't unique and I wonder, how do we all cope? How can we spend every day worrying about our loved ones and not go off the deep end?

Then I get a message from a friend about homeschooling her child. Apparently the student has been expelled and the teacher was fired for drinking on the job. Another friend wants to pull a group together to play dice via messenger chat later in the week. My weekly virtual cocktail party is Friday night at 7:00. And just as I'm on the phone discussing an impending lay-off for my (other) daughter, Lily pops up in my face with these glasses on, announcing that she want to be a construction worker.

And so I smile as I log into my weekly Zoom meeting with family members from all over the world. Because above of all this horror that's going on in our world, hope floats.

You bet it does, and I find that it's much easier to deal with one day at a time! You never know what's just around the corner! Indeed, hope floats!

Jeff

Jeff, yes it does! Keep your chin up. This will be over one day, hopefully soon!

I truly believe that it will, Cindy!

Jeff

That little face! It's hard to be sad when you've got a little one to help put things into perspective. : )

Haha! True story!

*** hi Cindy ... yes, hope floats! ... peace be with us! ...

blessings to you and your family for love & health .... 🧡🙏 ... ***

Blessing to you and yours as well!

Blessings on you and yours, Cindy!

I am taking it one minute at a time myself.

I lost 2 uncles just hours apart on Friday (non-coronavirus related)
and, it hurt even worse noT being able to fly across country to be with my family at this time.

I count my blessings and, try to stay busy even if it's baking, my go-to when I'm sad.

I'm really glad you are having your weekly family meetings. That is a great tool to keep the love and comfort flowing

You have my deepest sympathies on the death of your uncles and I'm glad you have something to help you cope. Cooking is the same for me!

Thank you kindly
