Uncomfortable Comfort Zone
I was engaged in a conversation today about butterflies in stomach, fear, nausea and such like when we are engaging in something completely new or unusual such as an exam, driving test, presenting/performing in public, embarking in a new business venture, investing huge money into something, etc.
These are good uncomfortable feelings because they will pass with time when we become familiar with the new situation. Fear of the unknown outcome usually brings these knots in the stomach.
Learning or doing something new moves us from our comfort zone and tends to bring these feelings or emotions associated with discomfort. No growth occurs when we are in our comfort zone and because no growth is going on in this zone, it becomes rather uncomfortable over time. A paradox right? Humans are growth seeking organisms.
Sometimes I feel uncomfortable in a new place, group, country, and relationships but before I could spell the word 'discomfort', I am in the groove!
Stretch zone is uncomfortable at first but has huge benefits. Look at the yoga posture above. The more we stretch ourselves, initially very uncomfortable but in time, the pain brings huge benefits.
So my friends feel the pain of stretching a bit further every day. Because the more we stretch, the nearer the goals.
Have a great weekend all and keep stretching! :)

Hi Chuka,
Thank you so much for this post. I needed it!! Stretching is a big part of the learning process. You must learn to stretch your imagination in order to achieve your dreams. I will keep stretching toward my goals and dreams. Have a great weekend.
Fantastic Bianca! There's a lot to stretch everyday and as you said, that's when dreams begin to come true. Have a great Sunday :)
Chuka I agree with your post, But if I was to try that yoga position I hope somebody has the video recording it!.
Loool Tim!! A little at a time my friend and in no time at all your stretch will surpass the yoga position. That's the time to get the video recording out :)
Great analogy! Stretching a little further each day does give you satisfaction.
Thanks,.
Tim
This is such a great reminder. I am constantly holding myself back because I am not remembering to get over myself and just do things that I'm uncomfortable with. Especially when it comes to marketing my website and sharing it on social media.
Awesome Kiersten, now there's no stopping you! :) I appreciate your comments, it happens to us all at one time or another.
