A Challenging Monday!
I'm exhausted, so this post will be very short. I wanted to share my day, which was fraught.
The place I'm doing some work at the moment is a 45 minute train journey from home. Today it took 3.5 hours. Why? Someone threw themselves in front of a fast moving train.
Therefore all trains were cancelled. It's a major incident. On an afternoon/evening like today, it's hard to think of the difficulty of the journey home. I keep wondering what made this person do this.
When something like this happens, it's time to stop, count our blessings and express gratitude.
Have a happy and safe day friends.

It is hard to imagine the state of mind which could lead someone to take such horrific action. Very disturbing and sad. You are so right about counting our blessings. I hope tomorrow is a better day for you, Chuka.

Hi Chuka, sorry to hear about this tragedy. My full time time job is with a major US rail transport company, and my job involves frequent travel around the West coast. On a monthly basis we see or hear about someone choosing this horrible way to end their lives.
Desperation and despair are what drives a person to such extreme action.Trains are unforgiving and brutally effective in helping these troubled souls achieve their self destruction.
Yes,let's all stop, count our blessings and give gratitude to God for
all we have to be thankful for.
That's an awful thing to imagine.
This happens frequently in the Palo Alto Ca. area where high school students jumped in front of the train regularly!
Glad you're ok.
Yeah Art. It's so awful to think about. Trail of devastation everywhere. Our world is so full of sad stuff at the moment.
My husband use to commute to London for his work and this was a frequent occurrence, it's a sad situation when someone feels so desperate, and no one in their family or friends could see it coming. I feel for the people they leave behind and the person who did it.
Sandra.
You succinctly summarised the situation Sandra, thank you. It's sad for the family, friends and victim.
I'm so sorry to hear about that! It is so sad that anyone gets to the point of feeling that hopeless! Life indeed can be very fragile and unpredictable.
The agony I felt this evening was how they got to this place and the devastation left behind - family and friends. Thanks for your insight Linda
Life is getting pretty surreal these days, and obviously not in a good way. Let's all keep praying that it doesn't just keep getting worse. Odds are tomorrow will be better, Chuka.

Absolutely! Always count your blessings and reflect on the good things we have in our lives. Think about those poor people and their kids in war torn Syria!
Much appreciate your kind thoughts Marty. Focusing on the good helps us deal or cope with the not so good.
