The Quiet Stages Your Website Goes Through
There is something weird that happens when you work on your website. You can put in hours and hours of effort, follow all of the training, write regularly, improve on your posts, and still feel like nothing at all is moving.
I used to sit and wonder what on earth was going on with my site when everything just felt stopped.
Just know, that a slow period does not mean you are necessarily doing something wrong. Most of the time, it just means you are in one of those quiet stages that every site goes through.
The first thing I noticed when I got started is that websites seem to grow in waves. You might publish a few posts and see no activity at all for weeks. Then all of a sudden you see a few impressions, or a click, or maybe even someone leaves a comment for you out of nowhere.
It can feel a bit random I know, but it isn’t.
The search engines move at their own pace. They collect data, they see how your pages behave, and test them before they send you any decent traffic.
Another thing I learned is that your content can take a long time before it starts working for you. I have had posts sit there for ages doing absolutely nothing, and then months later they start getting visitors.
If you judge your site too early, it always feels like progress is missing. If you look at it later, everything makes a lot more sense.
I also found that keeping your website active, even with small updates, helps a lot. You do not always need to publish something big. A small improvement to a heading, an update to a paragraph, or fixing an old mistake shows search engines your site is alive.
Over time, this activity adds up.

Something else that is easy to miss is the effect of your own learning. When you get better at writing, SEO, structure, or layout, then your content improves. But the results of that improvement come much later. You might not see the benefit straight away, but it does matter.
When everything is quiet all the time, it is very easy to think you are not getting anywhere. But this is usually the moment when you are actually building the things that will help your site grow later on.
Another thing that helped me during these quiet stages with my websites was paying attention to the small signs. A few extra impressions in Search Console. A brand new keyword showing up. A click on an older post. These small things are worth noticing. They are signs that your site is getting there, even if it is moving slowly.
A quiet stage is not a sign of failure. It is simply part of how websites grow. I have seen this over and over again, both with my own sites and from many of you here at WA.
So if your site is like this at the moment, don’t panic. Keep writing. Keep updating a little. Your work does count, even if the results take a bit longer to show themselves.
How about you? Have you had these quiet stages where it felt like nothing was happening, and then things started to move later on?
Thanks for reading and have a great day :)

Good morning Chris,
I know where you're coming from, especially as you probably have times when you are not able to do much on your site. I always think the main thing is to get started and then we can add content as and when. Also, there could be one or two pieces of content that do really well in Google and then our website can take a leap forward.
I find this with YouTube, sometimes a video may not get that many views, but then I can have a breakout video, and it receives thousands of views.
So now's your question, yes, I have had these quiet stages on my website, but that's often through me being busy and not having time to publish regularly.
Have a great day.
Roy
Yeah you are right, and as you know, time can be a battle for me, especially in the summer months... but I keep trying...
I try to publish as regular as I can.. but I do get sidetracked sometimes. I think the main thing is not to stop completely..
I genuinely, 100%, know where you are coming from, Chris, having had businesses in the past, that will very much summer based and like you, I keep trying, which I think is better than totally stopping.
I don't know how easy it would be for you to schedule some blog posts for the summer months, but may be quite daunting, as a Greek summer is long, but it could help a bit. I find the scheduling feature on YouTube really useful and on WordPress. It's a nice feeling having posts in hand, already to use, etc.
I really hope you can make the most of this quieter period, Chris.
Have a productive day.
Roy
Yeah I am writing now.. and preparing... I work on one for publishing now.. then I write another one which I will try and post during the summer period... and just keep repeating that.. I will see how it goes!
My apologies, Chris, I somehow missed your reply.
That sounds like a great idea, over a period of time, I believe that will make a huge difference to your website. I do find the scheduling features on YouTube and WordPress really useful.
Have a great day.
Roy
Yes, you need a lot of patience before you start seeing any tangible results. Instant gratification is out of the window.
Hi Chris, This is what I am going through the quiet stages. I added more Keywords and have discovered that the new Jaxxy tool(Thanks Carson and Kyle) is very helpful for both creating new posts and updating old posts and pages. Thanks for the Advice! Rhonda

This is only my second week back at WA, and you might think that I should be filled `with enthusiasm and I am. Yet this week is not like the first week. I found myself slowing done. Still doing work but with a slightly different focus. For example, I found myself going back through lessons and finding that because I have new information, I see and understand better that i believed that I had grasp.
So yes, I understand this process of quiet stages, of going back and tweaking stuff and even changing areas as your knowledge base increases. I hope what I say makes sense to you, it certainly does to me.
It makes sense Paul yeah... and there is no harm in going through the training, even if it means repeating some of it, because things are always changing... and there is no harm going over your older content either and making changes as you take on more knowledge..
Its the right way to go :)
Chris
Thanks, appreciated
