Your Tadpoles May be Waiting to Jump

I have been getting a few nice surprises lately that came from situations that didn't seem so great at first.

Let's start with the frogs and the little surprises they left me, and then I move over to my dog and how she threw my table to the floor. After that, I will get to the point ;-)

1. Last week, a hurricane was announced, category 4. Although I have experience with hurricanes, a cat. 4 seriously made me nervous ... In 2014 a category 5 hurricane hit us directly (cat. 5 is the highest) and it is a memory I would rather forget - as do many others in this state ...

Luckily, this one, called Genevieve, weakened upon arrival and turned into a category 3, which is still strong, but we can handle it, and then it was suddenly a cat. 1 Pfew, we were lucky!

The accompanying rains left my outdoors doggie pool filled with water, sand, and mud, up to the brim. I knew I had to empty it soon, because of the mosquitoes. When it was sunny again I started using the water to water some plants, emptying it with buckets, but as the water level went down, I suddenly noticed some fat, little fellas swim around in there, and I realized that they were tadpoles. Of course, I could not empty my doggie pool anymore, so I left the remaining water in there.

I observed them every day, swimming around busily, content in their little underwater world, getting fatter every day, spending their days swimming and eating (and so no mosquito eggs, yay!) I filmed them as well.

Today, I noticed that they were trying to get up on the walls, but they are too slippery, so I build them a little ramp with wood and then I added a rock for them to climb up on. They did not want to get out, they just needed a dry spot to sit on. They already have their legs and they still have their tail. They are as small as half my thumb, and so incredibly cute.

I feel privileged to watch them grow every day and to see them interact. There are more than 20 little frogs in there, I counted today. They love the dry spot I created for them, they are happy little campers :-)

So, this was one situation that seemed a tedious chore at first, which turned into a pleasant surprise that brings me entertainment, love, and wonder every day.

2. Last week, my dog Greta, threw over my table in my trailer, and everything came crashing down. My table was stacked with papers, notebooks, glasses, cups, a decorative bottle, rocks, spheres, CD´s, a big mess, and it all fell. Luckily, nothing broke, except for one of the spheres. I was angry at first, but then I suddenly saw how this table now fit with the seats and I could make an extra bed out of it - I didn't even know that. ...

So again, what seemed at first an unfortunate occurrence turned into an eye-opening experience, and a long overdue cleaning up ;-)

The Point of This Post ...?

Those two little events showed me that when something happens and it seems bad or like a terrible chore at first, or it is something you wanted to avoid, it often brings little blessings or surprises. Unfortunate events can bring little treasures or lead to great new ideas.

I am in complete agreement with you, Christine! All we have to do is step back and look for the positive things in what would otherwise have been a negative situation! Well done!

Enjoy your weekend!

Jeff

Thank you for sharing Christine. Tadpoles aren't my favorite. But, I do admiire your passion shown in this story.

Thank you! I think they're cute, but we are all different, right? ;-)

Nice story, thanks for sharing.

You're welcome :-)

I'm sure the tadpoles appreciate the ramp, Christine 👍

Thanks for the post!
Isaiah 😊

They love it! Ever since I built it they have been on it. They sometimes jump off to get food, but then they come swimming back :-)
