Some Accomplishments - Writing, Writing, and Some More Writing

Hi everyone,

I have not blogged in a long time, because I have been so focused on my writing goals (for my websites and books), and I was often too exhausted to write another blog on my WA profile ;-) I usually finished in the late evening, around 7 or 8 or 9 pm, and then I just called it a night and relaxed with Netflix or Whose Line is it Anyway in bed. Whose Line always cracks me up, even if I have seen it before, and laughter is good for you.

I had a new blog post planned for today, but I was so pumped to start writing for nanowrimo that I started doing that instead.

What's nanowrimo? NaNoWriMo means National Novel Writing Month, and it is held three times a year. During one month, participants from all over the world are challenged to write a novel's first draft of 50,000 words. I started this morning and I penned down 2071 words already. Although I have known about nanowrimo for years, it is the first time I am participating. There are no prices for it, it's just a writing challenge and you get to meet other writers, even work with them, it's meant to be a fun and networking experience.

Speaking of connecting with writers, I found a nice writer's group via Twitter. We meet every Tuesday via Google Meet and discuss our writing projects (we submit our work in progress, 2500 words max) every week, read each other's work, and then we comment on it, give advice, ask questions, it's basically a betareading group. We are also going to do nanowrimo together, so that will be nice. I have never done a writing project in company with other writers, so I think that it will be a good experience for me.

And I love that I am finally able to speak to other writers, haha. None of my friends are writers, so they don't understand, except for one who studied literature, he gets it. I also know a poet, but due to covid I have not been able to hang out with her.

So, although I felt a little guilty for posponing my blog post project today - I mean, I'm here to grow my business, aren't I? How am I going to do that if I am being sidetracked by other things? But I love writing, it is so much a part of me, I have been writing stories since I was six years old ... And writing also means a temporary escape from this world - and I guess that right now many of us could use an escape, right? ;-)

However, I decided to check my stats on Google Search Console, and they were pretty good. This website has been up for 1 year and 10 months, so, I guess that traffic is building up slowly, but still, I think that 13.5K total impressions is pretty good. It was 15 K last month, but I will get it back up again.

My most popular posts are not product reviews, but vegan fun facts and also a blog post I wrote about a famous vegan restaurant in L.A. The fun facts post has been a favorite for months on end, so I wrote a second fun fact article and that one is doing well too :-)

Although my newest website (in the mental health niche) doesn't have such a high number yet, ever since I started that website, its color on the WA website manager dashboard has constantly been in dark blue, yay! I'm so happy about that. Let's keep that going and let's move on to the next color. :-)

Oh, and back to writing now. Twitter is a great place to network, and a few days ago I was introduced to another author who is writing a vegan science fiction novel and is looking for a collaborator. I said, "yes me!" me, me, me, lol. I already rewrote three fairytales with a vegan twist on my blogs and I also published a fantasy fairytale-turns-into-war book with a message of compassion for all, so although I know I am taking on a lot of writing projects right now, I hope we will be able to work together. There can never be too much writing for me :-)

In the afternoon I will tackle my new blog post, but right now I am inspired to write my novel, and I was suddenly and finally inspired to write a blog post, after how many weeks, or a month perhaps?

Oh, before I forget, I recovered my old second job which I had lost in March due to covid. Since last week I am back to teaching German in the afternoons (online now), three days a week, and it is making a nice difference to my wallet. :-)

Have a great Sunday, everyone :-)
