Make Sure Your Website (and Posts) are Secure

Hi everyone,

I thought to share this blog post today, since it has been on my mind for a while. I noticed several websites that were not secure, or that had posts that were not secure. It is important to make sure that they are secure, for safer browsing. This is important, especially since we are asking other WArs to comment on each other's posts ... And obviously also for our organic visitors.

To make your website secure, you can turn on SSL when you click on websites in the left side bar, then on Site Manager. Your websites will appear. Click on "details", scroll down a little and you will be able to turn on SSL.

To ensure that your posts are secure (sometimes they may be insecure due to images you upload), check out this training here:

The reason I am sharing this is because I came upon some insecure websites when I was leaving website comments. It isn't safe.

I am not sure if it is related, but a few days ago there was an unauthorized use of my credit card online ... for a dating site. Luckily, my bank blocked the transaction and then contacted me. I immediately cancelled my credit card, and spent considerable time on the phone to get a new card sent to me. So, this is why I am asking you to please pay attention whether your pages and posts are secure.

It is easily overlooked, it also happened to me, until someone told me that one of my posts was insecure.

I thought it would be good to ask for this favor, and it will be beneficial for all of us and for our website visitors.

This is important Christine my latest article on broken links identified the issues that are caused to others whether unwittingly or otherwise nevertheless still cause tremendous problems.

I have a continuous issue with a link that came in from a member on this site with a big red sign stating their site issue could not be resolved.

As for all the other issues you mention just a headache and all it takes is taking the time to be sure with less haste!!;

Very good heads up!!

Thank you! Yes, it is incredibly important! The consequences of an insecure website or post are a pain in the behind ... ;-)

Hosting fees require definite responsibilities. I mislaid my credit card and missed renewals. Now I have the task of rebuilding sites. It gives me a chance at least to consolidate to one or two sites!

It gives you the chance to make them more secure now :-) ;-)
When we have to rebuild, we can often make it better than it was before :-)

Thank you Christine for bringing up the SSL. I missed that training before and didn't know about it.

Stay well!
Evelyn
