I'm on Fire!
The last two days have been very productive, not only on WA, but also on my land. I am on Christmas holidays now (the perks of being a teacher). Yesterday I cleared some nasty spiky weeds off my land. They always grow after rain season. And worked on WA ;-)
Today I took my dogs for a long walk. It was Mr. Freckles's first walk after his injury, and he did great! I cleared some more weeds (I'm not done yet) I grabbed my machete and hacked down a dead cactus (I loved that cactus ...), bound some stray branches closer to the trees (so I don't have to cut them off, I don't like chopping them) and worked on WA.
Now, just half an hour ago I started a fire with the dead cactus, the weeds, and some carton, got myself a glass of amaretto, and watched the fire. I used to be terrified of fire, but living in the middle of nowhere I had to get over that fear. I learned to make controlled fires and see the beauty in them.
So, as I stood there, I was suddenly inspired! A poem burst out of me, about - you guessed right - fire! That's going on my author's website tomorrow. I'm so grateful that my friend invited me to participate in poetry slams last month. It has awoken a new creativity in me, or perhaps it had always been there and I just did not know it lay dormant in me. So, I got new content for tomorrow!
That calls for another amaretto :-)

What can I say? Nothing beats doing an activity to only inspire you with the substance for your other activity. It is amazing how our mind works when we do different things.
You have just uncovered a solution for writer's block. Go to your garden and clear some weeds...

I know, right? Just go to the garden, do some work, take your mind off things, it works miracles. Highly recommended :-)
You are absolutely right. I do that sometimes to help with thinking about solutions and getting inspiration. It may not be where you are at that moment in time. Therefore, getting yourself out of that place and doing something else now relaxes you to be able to wander off and something will come along.

It's all about mixing work with pleasures. Chop dead wood, reward, music, make a fire, amaretto, lol. I always mix my tasks with little rewards ;-)
