Why did you join Wealthy Affiliate?
For me, Wealthy Affiliate is not just training and support in internet marketing, it's also a journey in learning about what I truly believe about working for a living, living my dreams, achieving success, setting and shifting priorities, and self-sacrifice; it's a journey in self-discovery. In the last six weeks with Wealthy Affiliate I've learned more about what I believe about work, following my passion, and attaining success.
Have you ever gone on a weight loss diet, reached your goal weight, then… over time, re-gained most or all of the weight you lost?
The only diet I know of that works is the one you intend to stay on for the rest of your life. You can diet for six months but if you don't plan to make long-term (as in for-ever) changes to your eating/exercise/lifestyle habits, you'll likely eventually re-gain the weight you lost. Furthermore, in your mind's eye, you must see yourself at your desired weight because that means that ultimately you will eat, exercise and nurture the habits necessary to keep your reality (weight/health) in line with your body/self-image.
In the last few weeks, dieting has become my analogy for Wealthy Affiliate. In the beginning, it's easy to make Wealthy Affiliate a part of your daily routine and push other things aside. In the beginning, you are so excited about Wealthy Affiliate! You eat up the training and make plans for everything you intend to accomplish with your new skills and knowledge. You get your domain/s, build out your pages and you add content. And just like a healthy lifestyle, if you're going to be a successful online marketer, internet marketing is for life.
For me, the last six weeks have been about incorporating writing, researching, posting, and training into my life so that it becomes "just what I do" everyday, like prayers before bedtime. I know that in order to have long-term success in internet marketing, habits must be nurtured and they must remain in place until I achieve my goals and long afterward. Habits like continuous training and learning, having an abundance mindset, goal setting, and self-discipline.
How important is Wealthy Affiliate to you? How serious are you about earning a viable online income?
When I read most people's goals post, one of the tasks in Entrepreneur Certification Training, Lesson 2, those goals seem pretty important. They are goals like, "being financially free so I can spend more time with my kids / having enough money so I don't have to worry about the bills". What happens two or three months down the road?
My husband and I used to join the gym on a monthly basis, even though committing to a full year membership was less expensive, because we weren't sure we'd always have time to go to the gym. After a few months we'd quit, then after some months we’d join again on a monthly basis. I eventually came to realize that it wasn't that we didn't have time to go, we weren't prepared to make a long-term commitment to take the time, or to make the time to go to the gym.
This gym scenario has become my other analogy for WA. I fully respect that each of us is in a different place financially, so this is a question that only you can answer: Did you join Wealthy Affiliate monthly, rather than annually, because you may have to cancel or quit for "some reason"?
I encourage anyone who joins Wealthy Affiliate to join for a year. If you are here to learn how to be a success online, to learn about SEO, to learn the in and outs of internet marketing and stay up to date on the industry then I don't really believe there's a choice. Put the money down, up front, off the top, because then you'll have to ask yourself whether or not you are going to let that $359. go to waste month after month. You will have to take the time and make the time to learn this business. It is that important to you, isn't it?
Right here, you can best learn everything you need to learn - all the training is here for you - and you will have all the support and help you need to succeed. It is unlikely that you can find the same support and encouragement from friends, co-workers, or even family members since the majority of people do not believe that internet marketing works.
You must ask yourself whether deep, deep, down inside you really believe that internet marketing works. Do you see yourself as an online success? Do you believe it?
Many blessings! -Chris :)

All good points!
I am here for just over 11 months and for the first time, I'm actually following the training (past the 1st course). I have been working on the second course the last few weeks and I see that following the lessons provided, I have visitors coming to my site and it's really working for me. I can't wait to continue learning and growing.
I started CrossFit 3 weeks ago and I'm so happy I did! I've been pretty sedentary all my life and have not been to the gym in 5 years! I chose to do CrossFit because I needed something that'll really kick me in the you-know-what and is to expensive for me to just walk away from. For some people the $10 membership gyms work, but not for me. I'd just never end up going. Paying $25 per class is too expensive for me to afford missing...
Seeing how that's working for me - making progress one day at a time has motivated me to do the same with WA!
Hi Stephanie, thanks for your comments. That's something I want to do, get back to the training. I've been writing and watching videos here and there for over a month now and it's time to get back to the courses. :)
This winter we're creating a home gym. We have a bicycle roller, weights, medicine balls and videos...staying healthy is my motivation and so far so good! :) CrossFit sounds awesome! Enjoy!!
I had a look at your websites http://itsasmallworld.siterubix.com and www.financiallyfreestudents.com - both very nicely done. I look forward to reading your posts on real estate investing. All the best!
A home gym sounds awesome! Yeah, I love CrossFit and am so thankful I got into it!! Found it through www.nerdfitness.com.
I should get back to writing for those sites... right now working through the course with www.nerdrebel.com and that's what I'm focusing on for right now...
personally I will be starting a new regular type of job soon. The money I will earn from that I will use to go a full year with WA. I want to succeed with this and some other online marketing ventures I am involved with. I dont want to toil in corporate America as so many do. Our economy is more fragile than a lot of people realize. You could be well established in a job and get laid off without warning the next day. I dont want to worry with that kind of possibility hanging over me. I want a better life. In time I believe it can be done here.
Hi Chris,
Great words and so true. You've reaffirmed many things that I already knew, but am in a bit of denial about. I love your diet/WA analogy. Finances dictate my monthly payment at the moment, but paying annually will be another kick up the behind I seriously need.
I'm just experiencing a resurge in my interest, application and progress in my WA education, similar to when I first joined and I'm absolutely loving it. When my Email bings on my phone and it ISN'T a WA notification I'm bitterly disappointed.
I do believe in this community and the process and I can see myself at my WA "desired weight".
Once again thank you for your inspiring words, they're yet another motivation for me from within this wonderful community.
Blessings Returned

Roft213, I'm very happy that you are back on it and progressing nicely again. :-) I've enjoyed reading your posts that keep us up to date on your goals and progress. What's your website?
I'm glad you enjoyed the post and thanks for your comments. :) I wrote the post for myself as much as for anyone else. I want to spend much more time writing and posting so I can get traffic - only then do I plan to monetize my site. The road may be long but I intend to walk this way even if slowly at times. We can do this thing!
Thanks for your blessings. -Chris :-)
With the job situation the way it is I believe there has to be something better for me and everyone out there. I don't believe that God only meant that some of us should have a job and find success in the outside world and the rest of us should suffer without enough to get by on. There has got to be more than just having a job.
WA is just that. It is a way for me to find a better way than a JOB. I truly believe if I stick with WA that I will eventually find a better life for my self. A life that I can be proud of and a life that I can actually live and share with my friends and family instead of working for someone else to get rich
We spend 1/3 of of our lives trying to earn a living. I am counting in the hours you spend preparing your lunch, getting ready for work, driving to and from work and the 1/2 hr. - 1 hr per day away from home having your lunch break. If you ad all that time and you have a full time job with at least 8 hr. per day that means almost 1/3 of your life is wrapped around work. Not to mention people with children who have to take their kids to and from daycare. On top of everything we live in fear that we are going to loose our jobs and many of the jobs are only minimum wage. I don't think that we were meant to live like that. That is not living.
I think that if I stick with WA eventually I will really learn what it means to be living. Besides I like to learn. If I am not learning something I get board and WA is a great place to learn.
Thanks for your words Judy, I agree with you completely. Whatever it is that a person enjoys, I believe that they can channel it in a way that brings them legitimate income and the satisfaction of helping others enjoy life. That is living!! The very best to you!
Fully agree, Chris, WA is business training and we need to be in it for the long term. We look with envy at those established sites thinking, "why can't that be me?" Well, in time, it will be if we are resolute in our purpose. Thanks for this.
That's so true right?! It is me, and you, and each of us! We can do this thing! Thanks for reading and commenting. :)
Chris…isn't it exciting learning new things? It opens your mind to new possibilities. I agree with you, without believing…nothing has value. Thank you for sharing this blog and encouraging us as members.
Thanks for your comment. I enjoy wondering what tomorrow will bring... WA is an adventure for me! :)

Well put Chris, so important to stay and keep fit with body and soul ! If we are not prepared to change our line of thought in order to adapt to this ever changing world then nothing will change in our lives re- weight loss, health, fittness, business, lifestyle, the list goes on !. And yes you must believe in your self ..............eat it ,walk it , sleep it , run it , talk it do it as a on-line marketter, just do it !
