The 2 BEST Lessons That You MUST Learn And Practice As Soon As You Can

I am always very careful to avoid being caught in the trap of allowing other people's achievements to determine what I do.

You are probably wondering what I am referring to.

Well, I have not been at Wealthy Affiliate (WA) very long, but I have observed quite a bit in my 15 months. I have also used my time to do a lot of research, reach out to many members, especially the older ones who are enjoying success.

In my humble opinion, these are the 2 best lessons that you must learn - quickly - and begin to practice as soon as you can.

They will determine your success.

1. Dedicate Yourself To Learning

WA is a community of 2M members. About 10% are active on a consistent basis.

Between the training and blogs that come at you, by the minute, you WILL become overwhelmed.

I guarantee it.

Your 1st objective is to get a handle on that as soon as you can and the only way to do that is to compartmentalize and block out what is not necessary, in the early days.

Have you ever observed the eye flaps on racehorses?

They wear them to prevent them from becoming distracted and looking all over the place rather than keeping their eyes on the end goal.

Many of our members get caught up in things that are unnecessary and then find they are in an abyss and cannot get themselves out.

They eventually fall back and give up.

Focus on your training, training, training!

2. Pace Yourself

This cannot be said enough.

It is connected to that distraction trap and taking what may not be important to you in the early days.

Sure, you want to move up in rank.

Yes, you want to be in the top 200, 100, 50 and become an Ambassador. BUT, give it time.

Rome was not built in a day.

You cannot respond to every blog post consistently for an extended period. You WILL burn out. I have seen it happen to many people since I have been here. Good members who showed a lot of promise but who wanted to reach the top of the ladder in record time.

They did achieve the high-rank numbers but quickly disappeared because they could not sustain the effort required to stay there.

Our business model works!

You see the successes every day.

What you want though is to achieve consistent, long-term and sustainable success. To do that, you MUST build a strong foundation.

If not, you will soon become another statistic.

That is not what I would like you to become.

Have a great Saturday!

Good morning Cassi,

I trust you are doing well and business is good.

Thank you for your very true and wise words, I can echo your wise words!

The ranking system at Wealthy Affiliate is great, however, I have seen far too many new members rushing to increase their page rank. As you mention Cassi, this is not the point, it's important that we focus on the training and not the wrong reasons for being at Wealthy Affiliate.

Climbing up the ranks is kind of fun, but if we are just focusing on ranking and not going through the training, what's the point? We would be far better to spend more time learning and taking action. This is one of the great things with Wealthy Affiliate we can learn and earn at the same time!

Over the past few years, I have seen people come and go and reach ambassador status. I believe that many of these members have never made a penny online and yet it looks great to be an ambassador, especially if you are a new member!

I believe that a good ranking can come very naturally when we go through the training, ask questions, help others, write a few blog posts. I'm currently ranking at 37, I have days when I don't even look at Wealthy Affiliate. And yet just through doing the above our ranking can be reasonably high and in a very natural way.

I like your photograph and example of the horse with blinkers on, I think all of us could do with a pair of blinkers, sometimes! There are many distractions on the Internet, we have to set goals and lists to keep moving forward.

Have a great day Cassi and thank you for your very wise words, an excellent blog post!

Roy

I truly love reading your comments and blog posts, Roy.
They make so much sense.

You have been here since 2014, so I can only imagine how many people you have seen come and go with lots of hope and promise.

It was a surprising hit when I became an Ambassador and even more so to see that I am still there.
I make no apologies for saying that my #1 focus is building my businesses.

I give back at WA because I could not have achieved what I have without the knowledge and support that I have acquired BUT I will not sacrifice my wellbeing or my business success for that.

Creativity and innovation are key for me.
I see SO MANY possibilities and models for our business and I want to push them all to the limit. 🙂

That is where my passion lies.

Thank you for sharing and enjoy the rest of your Sunday.
Cassi

Good morning Cassi,

Thank you, Cassi, for your kind remarks, it's actually always a pleasure to read your blog posts too! I really feel I can relate to them.

I can see what you are doing Cassi and it's great to watch people (in a good way) really trying to push forward with their online business. I really think you are going about things in the correct way.

The training is fantastic here at Wealthy Affiliate, it's good that we make full use of the training and advance our online business at the same time.

I believe there is a right and wrong way to become an ambassador, I believe you are doing it the correct way and it is an excellent way, Cassi!

It's great to see people with a passion for Wealthy Affiliate.

Have a great day, we have snow here in the UK!

Roy

The feeling is mutual, Roy.

You may not know but, when I started at WA, you were one of the members that I followed closely.
I enjoy your posts and your depth of thinking and understanding.

It is refreshing and, in a world where everyone is rushing to achieve and do more, you are tempered and supportive in your approach.

That has been very helpful to me and I am thankful to you.

I appreciate your support and your guidance.

Have a good Monday and a great week.

Cassi

PS My cousins in Suffolk have been sharing photos and videos of the snow.
I do miss England, especially Suffolk. 🙂

Thank you for your kind words, Cassi, it's appreciated.

It's funny how life turns out, I'm very much an outdoor agricultural type countryside human! I really never expected to have any interest in computers and the Internet. I never dreamed that I would be making money with a website or websites, it kind of wasn't really me. I'm more used to working with livestock and machinery! 12 years ago I didn't think that I would be in a Bible school! From atheist to believer! All things that I never imagined!

I actually lead a fairly simple life and yet I can see the power of the Internet and the huge potential that it brings. We are so privileged to have such great opportunities.

Suffolk is a lovely county, we will often take a drive to Bury St Edmunds, it's a lovely old English country town. The journey from door to door just takes us through beautiful East Anglian countryside.

Have a great day.

Roy

Awesome, awesome indeed. I love the second lesson the most- because that's what I am doing right now and I think many people miss. Especially on this journey I always say move at your own pace where stress and pressure are eliminated- mind you, that shouldn't make you lazy or to quit when things are not panning out immediately (that's when the learning part becomes key)

Great post, Cassi. Let's pace ourselves to success while enjoying the journey.

"Let's pace ourselves to success while enjoying the journey."

That resonates, Chris.

No need to rush.
Learn well and build on you rstrengths.

Thank you.
Cassi

Thanks, Cassi. This is a golden piece of advice.

I stopped learning for a while and tried to focus on building a site, which I was able to do. But I can see gaps in my knowledge that I need to fill in and I have been going back over the training.

I seem to remember you saying you went through the training 3 times yourself (no gaps there I am sure).

Also, I started several websites - a mistake I am certain many fall into. It just seems so easy at first.

Build a website (poof) it gets done here in WA with a few clicks.

The challenge lies in building, maintaining, and growing it into something worthwhile.

Alex

Alex, I went through OEC 3 times before I felt knowledgeable enough to fully complete and click the certification button.

I am doing the same with Affiliate Bootcamp and am now halfway through for the FOURTH time.

Although quite a bit of our training needs updating, there is still so much in there to occupy our learning, research and efforts.

I suggest that you do not discard your many websites but rather take 1 at a time, revisit, refit for purpose as your learning strengthens and move forward.
There is value in ageing websites. 😉

Thank you for sharing.
Cassi

Thank you, Cassi. You are of course correct. As websites age, they do become more valuable - even if little is done with them. They can be revived.

I will follow your advice.

Alex

You are very welcome, Alex.

you are on the spot , training all time .
but all for organic issue it is petty rough .
As i look at the first pages in google you have to get some post with 30000 word and been accurate and picture . and a post with sorting body type ..

tough .

and building backlink not easy
but as you say

training, training, training!

Training is key, Shalom.

Thank you for sharing.
Cassi

Hi Cassi, there are those times that I compare myself to others, and try to duplicate their success. I have found out that in most cases this does not work.
I got to take these lessons and do my own thing with them. I think that is the best way to prove to myself that I did learn something.

Have a great Saturday and thank you for the share.

Michael

Well said, Michael.
Thank you.

The weekend is quite enjoyable and I wish you a good one also.
