Time Is Money

We all know that time is money. But, do you know how to invest your time like money to build your brand? Is this approach even something that you have ever considered?

I trust that it is because, in my experience, time is more valuable than money. Using it efficiently and effectively will make a remarkable difference to how you approach building your online business and the level of success that you generate and enjoy.

There are many ways to get money if you do not have enough. You can:

  • Get a job.
  • Borrow from a friend or family member.
  • Take a loan from a bank or other financial institution.
  • Use your credit card to buy time to repay.

Not the same with time. We all have only 24 hours each day. Learning to invest those hours is a skill you should master.

1. Choose Your Investment Instrument

In the same way that you may choose to invest in stocks, cryptocurrency, fixed deposits or forex, carefully assess and choose the instrument that you want to invest your time in.

Measure the returns and do the research to understand how much effort and skill will be required. Pay attention to how long you have to wait for returns to start coming your way.

How Content & Affiliate Marketing Stacks Up

You are in Wealthy Affiliate (WA) because you have chosen Content & Affiliate Marketing to build an online business.

By now, you should understand that you will not be enjoying overnight success. This is no click and earn business and definitely not a scam.

In WA, you learn everything that you need to know about writing quality content and monetising it to earn income. Simple. No complications there.

However, it will take between 12 to 18 months to start realising any meaningful results IF you invest the effort required.

2. Choose Your Bells & Whistles

This should not come as any surprise. Anything that pays big returns demands big effort. From my observation in WA, many of our members come in all fired up, pay their membership fees, chat away in the community and fail to remember their reason for joining.

Their efforts are then wasted chasing after things that are not contributing to their business or its success. You must be selfish with your time and invest your time in yourself first.

Do not get carried away with the bells and whistles. They do not pay the bills.

How Content & Affiliate Marketing Stacks Up

Blogging in WA every day may give your Ambassador status here BUT is it helping your business?

When you are starting out, the bells and whistles that should demand your effort are those that help you to write consistent quality content for your website. That will generate meaningful organic traffic which you can then monetise to earn income.

Keep rinsing and preparing and you have a revolving revenue-generating door for your business.

3. Be Open To Taking Risks

As with financial investments, the level of return that you may be able to enjoy is dependent on the level of risks that you may be willing to take.

Is your risk appetite high or low?

If it is low then all the more reason to keep your time consistently focused on the long term. Every day, learn something new and write a new blog post for your website 3 or 4 times a week.

Set goals and objectives that have realistic timelines and stick to them. Become disciplined.

If your appetite for risk is high then, you can side-step and go off the beaten track as I did.

How Content & Affiliate Marketing Stacks Up

I used our WA Online Entrepreneur Certification (OEC) training to add new services to my consulting firm and that created a very lucrative revenue stream for us in just over 12 months.

We now produce content for our clients and help them to manage their online presence and growth.

2 1/2 years ago, I knew nothing about skills like SEO, Google Search, and Keyword Research.

I side-stepped and took some risks while I put Affiliate Marketing on the back burner. In the process, I have learned so much more and that now makes building my Affiliate Marketing business even easier.

Change Your Script

This is why we are all here. To change our lives.

That begins by changing your script, one letter, one word, one sentence, one paragraph, one chapter at a time.

Time, my fellow WAffiliaters, is by far, your most critical asset.

Use it wisely.

Hello Cassi,

Thanks for the call-out. I was floored. You flatter me. In affiliate marketing, it is so easy to get distracted. Especially when we are presented with so many options to build our business.

I feel it is best to pick one approach and work on that till it works. Then start to explore other options in the same way.

The problem people face is this. When they do not see the results they expect quickly, they conclude that they are not doing enough. So they start multiple approaches and end up going further behind.

Your tortoise and hare story is on point!

Cheers.

Edwin

You are very welcome, Edwin.

I admire your efforts and your staying power.
Keep pushing forward.

Thank you.

Hello Cassie,
Excellent blog. Time is the only asset that we get equally. No one absolutely no one gets more than the other. Utilizing time creatively and productively is the difference that reveals how much we value the time we have.

This is a good reminder to develop habits that benefit family, community, and the world which will ultimately benefit one's self.

Thanks Cassie.

You are very welcome, Othnyel.

You have summarised it well.

Thank you.
Cassi

Good morning Cassi,

Thank you for another excellent blog post, I can relate to what you are saying.

I agree with you, time is money! I think too many people waste time by just almost doing nothing or very menial tasks. I like to be able to finish the day and look at what I have achieved. I appreciate that we all need a day off to recharge our batteries! I would like to say that I like to make every moment count, although, it doesn't always go quite to plan!

Sadly and as you mention, I see so many people join Wealthy Affiliate who are really fired up! That's really a great thing to see, but spending time in live chat, becoming an ambassador and replying to blog posts (like I am doing😂), won't make you any money! Of course, there is a balance, it's good to spend a few minutes each day reading and commenting on blog posts etc. within Wealthy Affiliate.

I may be wrong, but I see far too many people here in live chat using Wealthy Affiliate as a social media platform rather than a training platform! That's not to say that we can't have banter and fun, it's just a case of getting the balance right.

Once again, as you mention Cassi, it's so important to have a plan and to be focused.

I do find it absolutely amazing how some members have really focused here at Wealthy Affiliate and become highly successful. It really is a great pleasure and inspiring to see people turning their lives around, especially the younger generation! It just shows what can be achieved when we focus!

I agree, sometimes we have to change that script or even turn it completely around! I believe that when we wake up in the morning there should be a passion within us that makes each of us want to get up and move forward within our business. If we don't have that passion, I believe it will be very difficult to succeed!

As you know, Cassi, I have seen many people come and go here. I quickly realised that when you first joined Wealthy Affiliate that you were going to be successful! I could see that you are passionate about learning and were going to go for it, big time! I also saw the same with Roope when he first joined!

Wishing you continued success.

Roy

Roy, I enjoy your comments and feedback.
Your experience and support for us all shine through.

You have mentioned something very close to my heart - our young people.
Oh, how I wish I was in charge of education!

90% of what we really need to thrive as adults we do not learn in schools or universities.
We are on our own.

WA has opened my eyes wide - VERY wide.

We press on though and do our best to educate, one at a time.

Thank you for your continued support.
I wish you a good day and week ahead.

Cassi

Hello Cassi,

It's always good to read your blog posts and gain some useful insights, we are all here to help each other! Thank you for your kind remarks, I appreciate it.

That's interesting about the young people, I don't know much about education in your part of the world. However, I guess like most places, it's falling apart, with ridiculous rules and regulations and unhealthy things!

I agree with you, many trades can now be learnt from home, they don't need a three or four-year degree. I appreciate there are certain practical trades that need to be learnt, but this can be carried out in the form of an apprenticeship. Just like we do here, we pass on information to others and vice versa.

Interestingly enough, my Webmaster in the US has home educated three out of four of his children. They appear to be doing okay, I don't think he wanted them in the system!

It is absolutely amazing what we can learn online, Wealthy Affiliate is an excellent example of this.

It is a pleasure to support people like yourself Cassi as I know this works both ways. Do you know that if I am away from Wealthy Affiliate for a few days, which happens, I check a few members including yourself to see if I have missed any valuable blog posts!

Have a great week.

Roy

You are very kind, Roy, thank you.

Education needs to catch up with the learning revolution.
In general, the old rote way of getting an education is now redundant.

I imagine that it is the same all over.

All the best for the next few days of this week.

Cassi

Good morning Cassi,

It's always a pleasure!

I agree with you, the old fashion way of colleges and universities needs to come up-to-date! I think they have been out of touch for a long time!

Yesterday I was talking to a man who had taken early retirement, he was on a three-year horticultural course. His teacher's was telling his students that they can make X amount for general gardening! There's a massive difference between getting that amount and talking about receiving that amount of money! It's easy to say that when you're a teacher, but try being in the real world and face reality!

Yes, I believe it's the same across the world, Cassi.

Have a wonderful day.

Roy

So very true!

Teaching a skill is a far cry from actually turning them into a successful business venture, Roy.

Have a productive day, today.

Cassi

Very well said, Roy.
Have a great weekend.

Thank you, Delroy, much appreciated.

I hope you have a good weekend too!

Roy

You're welcome Roy.

Thank you!

Have a great week.

Delroy

Hello Cassi,

I loved your lesson on how to approach building our business using content marketing. You spoke truth to power.

There were a couple of things I want to highlight that resonated with me.

Firstly, I liked how you defined the high and low risk options that we can take away from the WA training. Especially how you took the high-risk approach and used it to enhance and grow the business you already were in outside of Wealthy Affiliate.

Secondly, you made a good point about how to strike a balance between spending time on WA and one's own website. I'd like to bring something to your attention that you may not be aware of. If you are, then I stand corrected.

When we write on our WA blog and use the same skills of Keyword research and SEO principles, our posts here can rank on the search engines. Several of mine have that has resulted in referrals.

The bottom line is, that social writing on our blogs here may not bear fruit. But writing as you do to inspire others, can indeed work in your favor. Even so, a balance is necessary as in all things in life.

Your approach to business reminds me of entrepreneurs who think outside the box. In addition, you know how to get your priorities right for your situation.

Cassi, I am very impressed and inspired by what you have accomplished and wish you continued and growing success.

Cheers.

Edwin

You are very correct, Edwin.
Our WA blog posts can and do rank and earn us referrals and upgrades in WA.

I wrote about my experience with this in December 2020. Too often though, I see members getting caught up in what I call the "social trap".
They get carried away with that and soon they become demotivated because nothing is happening and they leave.

Nothing is more important than getting your business up, running and earning.

I really, appreciate your time and kind words.
You are a very special WA member to me and your support is highly valued.

Do have a great Sunday.
Cassi

Hi Cassi,

Looks like I was preaching to the choir here. I checked out your 2020 post and responded. That was an eye-opener despite what I already knew.

It is a good Sunday because I've learned something more from you.

Cheers.

Edwin

What a great article, Cassi. Time is the one non-renewable resource we have and is so easy to squander.

Yes, it is, Phil.

The more efficient and effective that we become with managing it the better our results will be.

Have an enjoyable Sunday.
Cassi

As long as you don't obsess over it. Going with the flow can be enjoyable too.
