10 Things That Could Hold You Back From Achieving Your Goals

Last week, I started to take a closer look at some of the 'pain points' blocking you at the moment. These are the things that could hold you back from achieving your goals.

Your responses were heart-warming and I would like to thank everyone who shared their thoughts and feelings. It was humbling to discuss some of the issues and bridge support in such a personal and meaningful way.

It is a cathartic experience and deeply appreciated.

Not everything can be addressed simply or shared. Allow me to summarise the 10 most common issues expressed.

1. Execution

2. Lack Of Energy / Motivation

3. Keeping Focused

4. Becoming A 'Writer'

5. Organisation / Managing Time

6. Feeling Overwhelmed / Too Much Information

7. Health / Exhaustion

8. Inability To Learn Quickly

9. Lacking The Confidence To Be Successful

10. Having To Compete

Execution, moving from planning to actually doing in proper order, was shared by almost 60% of respondents. This is, in my experience, one of the most common areas that cause difficulty and perhaps the number one reason that people and businesses do not enjoy the levels of success that they could.

You may have the best plans and intentions but if you do not execute appropriately it may result in minimal positive outcomes.

This is where our journey will begin as the series of interventions are rolled out, every Wednesday, starting tomorrow.

Please continue to share your experience, thoughts, successes and struggles so we can collectively find creative and practical ways to grow and achieve.

Have a Terriffic Tuesday! (thank you, Keisha. 🙂)

Hello Cassi,

Thank you for your excellent blog post, very thought-provoking indeed.

Looking at the most top 10 common issues, I would say that number six was the most common issue for me in the early days.

Back in 2004 when I had my first broadband Internet connection I could quickly see the power of the Internet! I was eager to take advantage of this, so I started to search how to make money online etc.

I found out loads of information, the problem was that I didn't know what was right and what was wrong, I also suffered information overload, big time, I needed a plan!

I believe it's important not to try and take on too much and to have unrealistic goals. One of the many great things about Wealthy Affiliate is that it gives us a plan to work to. We don't need anything else in the beginning, just follow the training step-by-step and to take action. How I wish that I knew about Wealthy Affiliate back in 2004, it would have saved me literally thousands!

I'm looking forward to your new series Cassi.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Roy

Roy, your sharing resonates loudly with me.

#6 is one of those areas that I have to manage well.

Like you, I started looking for ways to establish a presence on the internet many years ago, but just dabbled.
Starting in the computer world in the early 80s helped me a little but technology has changed so much.

To say that I am happy that I found WA is putting it mildly.
I absolutely LOVE it and will be here for a long, long time.

Thank you for your encouragement and support.

Cassi

P.S. I went to boarding school in Suffolk - Framlingham.
Small world. 🙂

Thank you for your reply Cassi.

That's interesting that #6 resonates with you, I fully understand!

You started very early in the computer world, I would imagine computers would be exceptionally painful in the 80s! I didn't start until 2001, my first computer was a Dell desktop running Windows XP. I had never used a computer until 2001, I found trying to surf the Internet using dial up, almost impossible! When broadband came out, I really saw the power of the Internet and had to take action!

It's great that you're happy with Wealthy Affiliate, it's a great platform. Although I had had some success before I came to Wealthy Affiliate, I really like the idea of being on a platform with like-minded people. It's good to share ideas and get to know like-minded people. We can encourage each other in an online walk.

Interestingly enough, when we were children we used to go on holiday to Southwold and stay at St Felix school which was quite a good girls school I believe. It's a very small world. I really like the County of Suffolk, being brought up in the countryside and not far from the Essex Suffolk border I came to love the East Anglian cornfields!

Have a great day.

Roy

Hi Cassi,

Thank you for sharing this post. I can say that I am a quick learner but it's easy to knock me down and make me go "idle." I am that one person who is hard on myself when it comes to getting and reacting to critics. Even though I know the critics are good for me and it's a constructive one. The problem is me.

I started a blog 2 years ago, just one time a well-known writer from my home country who happens to be married to an American as well like me, she commented about how long my post was and that was it. I didn't touch that blog anymore up until now.

Luckily I found WA, I started to build a website and write again. But then again, that same thing happened. I haven't posted anything to my website for almost 3 weeks now. I know I have to snap out of it. I don't want these 6 months of work on that website will just go to waste.

Hi Ferra
I sympathize with your sentiment and reaction. I often feel I am also prone to over-react to anything that sounds like criticism and take it as an easy excuse to stop dead in my tracks. I do think though it is worth remembering that any criticism we receive is one person's view. There are billions of people online and a variety of different opinions. I often feel that much of what I write is too long. But when I get into a subject I find so many stones that need to be turned otherwise my content will just be superficial and lack depth and authenticity. Right now I am writing on a subject and I have referred to a number of authority sites and some of them have given very confused and contradictory explanations of the topic. I've had to go back to a reference hardcop textbook to be sure.
Maybe you just need to pause, count to ten (seconds not days :-)) and go back to it.
Good luck
Andy

Ferra, I can identify with everything that you have said.

When I first joined WA, I did not put a face to my profile.
It was why I used CassiOfTroy (which is now my brand) and not my name.
I was afraid of the feedback from persons who knew me.

Then it occurred to me that I was allowing people to control me and my future and giving them a lot of power.
Once I internalised that it was smooth sailing.

We have a saying:
"The sweetest mangoes are the ones that get the most stones."

You are a gem.
Own your power.🙂

Cassi

Andy, this is so practical and appropriate.

You are right, the world is very diverse and we must always make allowance for that.
Counting works too! 🙂

Thank you for sharing.
Cassi

Thanks for this Cassi.
For me, I have a problem on Time Management - I work + I help my husband with our local business + and I'm a mom.
Hence, it result to delay of my blogging work and dificulty to focus.

But, I'm working on it and try not to give what I have started.

Mina, those are my issues also.

I have 2 offline business and I am a single-parent.
It can be a bit difficult managing everything, keeping focused and working on our online businesses.

Thank you for sharing.
Cassi

Thanks for sharing the results of your recent query Cassi. This top ten list was interesting to see, quite comprehensive and covers all the bases, so to speak. For me personally, the top spot would be shared between #'s 2 & 6. I think you have an idea as to the why of it. Still, it's all good. Keep up the good work my friend.

Greg

You are welcome, Greg.

I have not yet closed off on publishing the numeric graph because, up to the wee hours of this morning, I was still receiving PMs.
The feedback has been very encouraging.

#3 and #5 are where I have to pay attention the most.

Thank you very much for your support.
Cassi

Thanks Cassi, for summarizing it so well. We need to have these discussions especially in our platform so we all can take action properly and motivate each other to execute the plan.

My thinking exactly, Eugene.

Thank you for your support and confidence.
